Meet Alexandra Kacha of Alexandra Kacha Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Kacha.

Alexandra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started shooting when I was fifteen years old, mainly just documenting my music scene and portraits of my friends & family. Pretty soon, I started working for some local newspapers and music magazines doing photo essays or shooting festivals. About five years ago I turned my photojournalism job into my company which now specializes in lifestyle, boudoir and wedding.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road was definitely paved but it was a slow journey. I never envisioned myself doing photography full time, especially weddings, it sort of just fell into my lap through close friends & family. I know I didn’t want to do music photography for a living, festivals and bands are exhausting in general.

Once I began realizing I could make a living off of it, I began manifesting that so I could do what I love. Plenty of struggles, but they all turned into really good lessons. You have to be your own judge, social media manager, web designer, accountant, scheduler and therapist to your clients!

Please tell us about Alexandra Kacha Photography.
I do lifestyle, wedding and boudoir photography with a soft approach. My work represents women and femmes. I love shooting details of the body during my boudoir sessions. I try to have emotion in all of my photo shoots.

What sets me apart is probably all the experimental techniques. I shoot through panes of glass, prisms, collect strange lights. Anything to make a photo more creative.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Probably riding on the back of my dad’s motorcycle.
