Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Bryher.
Hi Monique, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My father was an immigrant physician who set up his practice in one of the poorest sections of Los Angeles. From as early as I can remember, I was taken on hospital rounds and house calls.
After I completed my undergraduate degree in economics and statistics, I earned a Master of Science degree (MSPH) in Public Health from the Fielding UCLA School of Public Health. This was while I was working full-time for a national company that owned hospitals and conducting research on the costs and quality of hospitalization. So I really had my hands full for those 2 years, including writing a thesis as part of my master’s degree requirements.
After the company sold its I.T. division, I began consulting as to what would now be called a data scientist. My clients included Kaiser Permanente, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Harbor-UCLA/L.A. BioMed, USC School of Medicine, UCLA Medical Center Computing. Blue Cross, and Health Net.
In 2006, I retired from my consulting practice and decided to open a real estate business that focused on representing physicians and nurses when they buy their homes in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. It feels like home to me to be in hospitals and doctors’ offices and I know my clients appreciate having an agent with whom they can discuss science and who is not just a sales person chasing a commission check.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge is getting the word out to doctors that there’s a Realtor in Los Angeles to specifically help them, one who has family and a professional reputation in medicine.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Doctor’s Daughter / Pinnacle Estate Properties, Inc.?
Prospective clients should know there is a Realtor in Los Angeles with a proven track record in clinical research who can “talk their language” and enjoys medicine as much as they do. This is what makes me different from other real estate agents and sets me apart. Also, having worked in the corporate world for many years, I understand how important it is to prioritize my clients needs and to be present and available for them, including the sometimes late and unusual hours that physicians keep.
I am most proud that I earned my brand through years of clinical medicine consulting and not as a spouse of a hospital employee who happens to have access through inside connections.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
(1) In 2002, earned my Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) certificate, was the first private sector woman in the U.S. to do so and operated a parallel business consulting for attorneys in civil litigation. This was while I was running my data consulting business, so I was very, very busy.
(2) I’m an avid surfer.
