Today we’d like to introduce you to Jameelah Harker-Rojas.
Hi Jameelah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey really started with my education. I graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Psychology, which gave me two things I’ve carried with me ever since: a love for storytelling and a curiosity about people.
Since graduating, I’ve explored a lot of different paths. I’ve written music and news stories, made music, worked corporate jobs, and built businesses. Each experience taught me something different about communication, creativity, people, and what it means to build something of your own.
Today, I’m working in healthcare while also building the JHR Brand. JHR is a brand for the people — a space for honest, objective conversations about life, wellness, relationships, career, personal growth, and the human experience.
Looking back, my journey hasn’t been a straight line, but I don’t think it was supposed to be. Every chapter has given me another perspective, skill, or lesson that I can bring into what I’m building now. At this point in my life, I’m focused on bringing all of those experiences together through JHR and creating something that genuinely connects with people.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been perfect, but nothing in life is perfect. There have been unexpected changes, setbacks, and moments where I’ve had to rethink my plans and figure out what comes next.
I’ve learned that it’s all in the power of the pivot, planning, and honoring God. Not every chapter goes according to plan, but I’ve learned to adjust without losing sight of who I am or where I’m going. Sometimes the pivot is part of the plan.
Those experiences have taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting the process while still doing my part.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is centered around people, communication, and the human experience. I’m a journalist by education, with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Psychology, and I’ve always been interested in how people think, communicate, connect, and navigate life.
Today, I’m working in healthcare while building the JHR Brand — a brand for the people. JHR creates space for honest, objective conversations around life, wellness, relationships, career, personal growth, emotional regulation, and purpose.
What I’m most proud of is creating something that reflects how I naturally think and communicate. I don’t want JHR to tell people how they should live. I want it to make people think, reflect, and better understand themselves and others.
What sets me apart is the range of experiences I bring to the work. I’ve worked in journalism, music, corporate environments, business, and now healthcare. I’ve been able to see people and life from very different perspectives, and I bring all of those perspectives into what I create. At the core, I’m interested in people — and JHR is an extension of that.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as doing what you love and doing it well. For me, success isn’t just about money or titles. It’s being able to use your gifts, do meaningful work, continue growing, and know that you’re doing something you genuinely care about.
