Conversations with Jonny Negron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonny Negron.

Jonny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been an artist for as long as I could remember. I had an innate drive to draw, and create. My practice is part of that progression of my life experience.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are tests that arise in life, but they are lessons in disguise that help guide us. I consider myself to be very fortunate.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a visual artist based in Los Angeles, where I have lived and worked for the past seven years. I work across a variety of media, with painting as my primary focus. I’m grateful to have been able to build a career around something I genuinely love and to continually develop my practice through new experiences and opportunities.

I’m particularly proud to have exhibited my work internationally, including in cities such as Paris, Shanghai, Seoul, Miami, and New York, as well as in my birthplace of Puerto Rico. Having lived and worked in different places has given me a broad range of influences and experiences that inform the way I approach my work. I think what sets me apart is this combination of personal history, cultural perspective, and an ongoing curiosity that allows me to approach familiar subjects from my own particular point of view.
