Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Franklin.
Hi Patricia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began with Franklin Freelance Writing, which was built from my passion for writing, communication, and helping others bring their ideas to life. What started as a freelance writing and consulting business grew as I began working with individuals, entrepreneurs, educators, and organizations that needed support developing their written work and communicating their stories effectively.
As my experience and confidence in the publishing process grew, I realized that I wanted to take my work a step further—not only helping others write, but also helping bring completed books and resources into the world. Becoming an author myself was an important part of that evolution. Writing and developing my own book, *Sis, You Need Some Rest: A Mental Health Guidance Book for the Hearts of the Household*, gave me firsthand experience with the many steps involved in turning a manuscript into a published work.
That experience opened my eyes to the need for supportive, author-centered publishing services. I wanted to create something that allowed writers to maintain ownership of their stories while receiving professional guidance throughout the publishing journey.
That vision led to the evolution from Franklin Freelance Writing to Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. The publishing company represents the natural expansion of the work I had already been doing—moving from simply helping people write their stories to helping them develop, prepare, and publish them.
Today, Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. reflects my growth as a writer, author, entrepreneur, and publishing professional. My goal is to continue creating meaningful books and resources while helping other aspiring authors recognize that their stories, knowledge, and experiences are worth putting into print.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. Building Franklin Freelance Writing and eventually expanding into Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. has required patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep learning.
One of my biggest struggles has been building a business while navigating the uncertainty that comes with entrepreneurship. There were times when finding consistent clients, generating income, and getting people to recognize the value of professional writing and publishing services was challenging. I also had to learn that being talented at something and building a sustainable business around that talent are two very different things.
As I moved into publishing, I encountered another learning curve. I had to become familiar with everything from manuscript development and formatting to ISBNs, book production, distribution, marketing, and the many details involved in bringing a book from an idea to a finished product. There were moments when the process felt overwhelming, but each challenge taught me something that made me more knowledgeable and confident.
Writing and publishing my own work also required me to believe in my voice and my message, even when the journey was uncertain. Instead of allowing the obstacles to stop me, I used them as opportunities to grow.
The road has not been perfect, but every setback has helped me become a stronger entrepreneur and a better writer and publisher. Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. is a reflection of that growth. What began as a freelance writing business has evolved into a broader vision: helping people take their ideas, stories, and experiences and turn them into something tangible that can impact others.
I am still growing, but I am proud of how far the journey has brought me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co.?
Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co.
Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. is an independent publishing company dedicated to helping writers, entrepreneurs, educators, and emerging authors turn their ideas, knowledge, and personal stories into professionally developed books and written resources. The company grew out of Franklin Freelance Writing and represents the next chapter of my work as a writer, author, entrepreneur, and publishing professional.
We specialize in supporting authors through the publishing journey—from developing and preparing a manuscript to formatting, publishing guidance, book production, and creating complementary resources such as journals and workbooks. Our goal is to make the publishing process more approachable while helping authors maintain ownership of their stories and creative vision.
What sets Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. apart is our personal, author-centered approach. We understand that every manuscript represents more than words on a page; it can represent someone’s life experiences, expertise, healing journey, educational mission, or dream. We want authors to feel supported and empowered throughout the process rather than feeling like they are simply submitting a manuscript to a company.
One of the things I am most proud of is the evolution of the Franklin brand. What began as Franklin Freelance Writing has grown into a broader publishing vision that allows me to create my own books while helping others bring their stories to life. My own experience as an author has given me a deeper understanding of the publishing journey and strengthened my commitment to helping other writers navigate it with confidence.
I want readers to know that Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. is built on purpose, creativity, and empowerment. We believe that stories matter, authors deserve to be heard, and a great idea deserves the opportunity to become a finished book that can educate, inspire, encourage, and impact others.

At its heart, Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. is about turning words into works that matter.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe God has played the greatest role in my journey. What may look like luck from the outside, I often see as divine timing, answered prayers, protection, and God opening doors that I could not have opened on my own.
There have certainly been moments of good luck—unexpected opportunities, connections, encouragement from others, and circumstances that came together at just the right time. But there have also been disappointments, closed doors, financial challenges, and seasons when I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction. Looking back, some of those closed doors were just as important as the opportunities that opened.
My journey from Franklin Freelance Writing to Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. did not happen overnight. There were times when I had to keep going even when I could not see the bigger picture. My faith reminded me that a delay was not necessarily a denial and that I did not have to have everything figured out at once.
I also believe God gave me the gifts, creativity, resilience, and vision necessary to build this business. My responsibility has been to use those gifts, continue learning, take action, and remain open to where He is leading me.
So, while I am grateful for the moments that people might call “luck,” I would describe my journey more as **faith meeting preparation and opportunity**. I have learned that sometimes God uses the unexpected, the difficult seasons, and even the closed doors to redirect us toward something greater.
Franklin Freelance Publishing & Co. is a reflection of that journey. I am proud of what I have built, but I am even more grateful for the God who gave me the vision, strength, and courage to keep building it.
