Check Out Julia Rose’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Rose.

Hi Julia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started street performing on the streets of Las Vegas when I was ten years old after discovering an old video of my dad telling jokes and juggling chainsaws on Venice Beach in the ’80s—which apparently made me think, “Yep, that seems like a reasonable career path.” I started doing a little bit of everything on the street: telling jokes, singing, dancing, playing guitar, and playing piano backwards, blindfolded, and even in the splits which caught the eye of Channel 8 News, and after they did a little special on my act, an executive producer from Virgin Records signed me and then I got offered the role of Crystal Baskets on FX’s BASKETS where I got to play Zach Galifianakis’ daughter on the show for about four years. Since then, I’ve signed with LA Talent and got to portray the role of Chloe Yasuda on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and a guest star spot as Aria Griffin on ABC’s The Rookie. I also can be funny… sometimes, so I do perform at stand-up comedy clubs, and I’m currently writing and singing a lot of country music up in Nashville, and love writing my own songs and scripts and dancing whenever I get the chance to take a class or take part in a dance project!

I’ve always loved entertaining in so many forms, and it’s what I’ve been doing my whole life!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When my dad and I first went out to street perform, we only had $60 left. All the money we made on the street usually went to eat that day or to stay in motels or if I got an audition or a role, it went to get a rental car to get me to auditions. I remember we’d drive all night so I could audition for sometimes just two minutes or to work on set the next morning and then drive back home the same day through the night. It was a good time with my dad though, we’d listen to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen on the way back.

I also remember being a little envious of girls I’d talk to at auditions who could afford acting, dance, and vocal lessons all week and being able to live in LA and not seem to stress about there future or whether they were going to make it or not, I always remember thinking making it had to happen, that there wasn’t another option for us. We didn’t know anyone in the industry, so I felt this pressure to hustle and find my own way in. Sometimes that meant finding the back door, and sometimes it meant basically throwing myself through the front one lol.

Overall though, I don’t think I’d appreciate the things I want in life nearly as much if I didn’t know what it was like to go without them. That perspective, and the work ethic that came with it, is probably the most valuable thing to me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most known for acting, singing/ songwriting, dancing, and performing stand up comedy!

My most recent recognized role was as Chloe Yasuda on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

I am the most proud of some of my street performances and my portrayal as Aria Griffin on ABC’s The Rookie.

I think what sets me apart is that I can learn pretty much anything with enough motivation. So if a role requires me to play the flute while standing on a moving horse, I can probably figure it out lol.

I am also currently talking with multiple labels right now to begin developing my music career which I’m really excited about!
