Exploring Life & Business with Bill & Amber Perkins of Top Fan Sports Clubhouse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill & Amber Perkins.

Hi Bill & Amber, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the absence of live sports left a void in the hearts of millions, and baseball fans were no exception. Spring Training came to a halt and disrupted annual rituals that fans look forward to every year— Opening Day, the sights and sounds of the ballpark and the thrill of the game. The absence of these traditions left fans longing for that nostalgia, but what became obvious is that the sport of baseball served as much more than a source of entertainment for fans. Baseball forged an emotional connections between fans and their teams and created a sense of community. From the isolation of lockdown and uncertainty of the season, Top Fan Rivalry, a “sports talk, fan involved” podcast emerged. Under the banner of “Pitch It To Us,” this unique podcast became a platform for spirited banter and engaging discussions on team rivalries. It provided an avenue for fans to come together, united by their unwavering love for the game of baseball.

In 2022, ready to go full speed ahead with Top Fan Rivalry as a business venture, the year had other plans for us. After our official launch that January, just four months later, in April, Bill was diagnosed with cancer. This really changed the course we could take a business, so Bill continued to podcast during the many months of chemo treatment. With a weak immune system, our isolation continued, but connecting to people through sharing their fan experiences gave hope in a place we didn’t have much opportunity to do anything else. After receiving the devastating news that the chemo was ineffective at treating the cancer, I made a promise to Bill that when he recovered we would travel to see all of the ballparks together. Connecting with the community of fans somehow gave a drive to survive because in 2023 we traveled to visit 16 ballparks together and filmed with Gravity Red Productions telling some fan stories of people we met along the way.

In 2026, we have been blessed to open a storefront with a small studio space in the Mission Viejo Mall. This is just the beginning of a greater plan we have for the future to bring fans together. This journey is all about the community of fans, with admirable stories to tell, that connect us on that emotional level to the game. Sports becomes bigger than just a game day experience. In our story, sport was the life line.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to all of the ballparks so I didn’t keep my promise but I still believe someday I will make good on that promise. There are so many wonderful people that we have connected with virtually, and hopefully someday we will get the chance for those face to face meet ups to connect and meet in real life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Top Fan Sports Clubhouse?
We are starting with our first retail location with the goal to build more than just a store. The heart of our brand has always been the community. We are rolling out a plan that will “bring fans together” in unique ways. At present, we personal shop through our catalog of brands to help fans have unique ways to express their team pride. We have a greater plan at work though so follow along for more things to come.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What we love… Los Angeles is the hub of the southwest that draws people from all around the world. We love the unique melting pot of culture that brings people to this corner of the country. Based in Orange County we are a good midpoint between Los Angeles and San Diego–two cities with rich cultures that both have a love for their home teams. We couldn’t ask for a better place to be here in Southern California enjoying the vibes that the laid back coastal life brings. Whether one bleeds blue, wears red, or shows their brown and yellow, we have them all covered here at the midway point. Our community culture has always been one based on respect. We also take care of all of the transplants that have also been drawn to the beautiful year round weather that Southern California offers.
