Today we’d like to introduce you to Nuria Hermosa.
Hi Nuria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Spain, where community, music, dancing, and celebration have always been such an important part of life. Growing up, I experienced movement and music as a natural way of connecting- with ourselves, with each other, and with life.
Yoga came into my life many years ago, and over the decades I continued practicing, studying, and exploring different traditions and approaches. Eventually, yoga became much more than a practice for me; it became an important part of my own healing and personal evolution.
The real turning point came when I discovered Kundalini Yoga and eventually began teaching it.
I began teaching as an extension of that healing process. After so many years of practicing and studying, I felt a natural desire to share what had supported me and to create spaces where other people could experience the same sense of connection, presence, and transformation.
Kundalini Yoga gave me a way to bring together many of the things I had been exploring for years- breath, meditation, sound, movement, and transformation.
DJing is a different but equally important expression of my connection to music and movement. Coming from a culture where dancing and gathering are such an essential part of the community, I’ve always felt the power of music to bring people together and create a sense of freedom and collective energy.
For me, teaching and DJing aren’t separate worlds- they are different ways of creating connection through movement, sound, and energy.
Today, I continue to teach Kundalini Yoga and create experiences around movement, meditation, breathwork, and embodiment, while also developing my work as DJ.
Both paths come from the same place in me: a desire to create journeys that invite people to express themselves, connect more deeply, and experience something meaningful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning to move through the moments when the mind tells you that you are not ready, that you are not enough, not qualified, or simply not capable of doing what you feel called to do. What we call “imposter syndrome” can be incredibly powerful.
In Kundalini Yoga, there is a stage of the journey where you are asked to keep going when your belief or certainty disappears ( Shakti Pad). For me, that has been one of the greatest teachings: to keep showing up, to practice, to continue every day, even when the mind is questioning everything.
Kundalini Yoga is a technology that teaches you how to navigate the Aquarian Age- a time of extraordinary acceleration, information, and technological change. It has given me the capacity to stay open, learn quickly, adapt, and not be afraid of new territory. In recent years, that has meant diving deeply into technology and AI, learning things I never imagined I would be working with.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I am most proud of is that I have continued to evolve and follow what feels true to me, even when I’ve had moments of doubt or uncertainty. After decades of practicing and studying yoga, I’m proud that I’ve allowed my path to keep changing and expanding rather than feeling that I have to fit into one definition of who I am.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is feeling alive and connected. Music, dancing, movement, nature, travel, learning, and being surrounded by people I love all bring me that feeling.
I think it is because I’ve always experienced life very physically and emotionally. Music can change my energy in seconds, movement helps me come back to myself, and being in community reminds me that we are not meant to experience life alone.
I also find a lot of happiness in creating experiences for other people. When I see someone open up, laugh, relax, dance, or simply feel more like themselves, it gives me a deep sense of purpose. There is something beautiful about witnessing people connect with their own aliveness.
Ultimately, what makes me happiest is the feeling of being fully engaged with life- curious, connected, expressive, and present.
