Check Out Samantha Atkinson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Atkinson.

Hi Samantha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started in aesthetics in 2021 as a medical assistant in Denver. At the time I was working at a Medspa while I was in nursing school. I always knew I loved beauty and medicine and realized that aesthetics is the perfect field for me because I can combine beauty and science. During my time as a medical assistant I learned so much and fell in love with aesthetics even more. Once I graduated nursing school I wanted to move to LA, so I went to work at the medspa’s Los Angeles office. That’s where I started training and transitioning to an injector. At that time I also was working as a new grad nurse at Children’s Hospital LA in the emergency department. After lots of hard work I decided to leave the hospital and pursue aesthetics full time. I found amazing friends and mentors along the way and eventually followed one of my mentors Jennifer Ordonio and now work for her at the Glendale office The Aesthetic Collection LA.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think no journey is ever smooth. There were many ups and downs along the way but it helped me grow and learn as an injector. Even to this day I struggle with imposter syndrome. I think starting out as a new injector working with some of the best gave me a lot of pressure to do well. Over time I have worked through this and built my confidence. I have always stayed true to myself and learned to give myself grace. The only way to learn sometimes is to make mistakes and that is okay!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in natural results with facial balancing. I think this is what I am most known for. I love treating the face globally and making sure everything is cohesive. I love to utilize multiple modalities to achieve natural results. This consists of using neurotoxin, filler, and biostimulator treatments like sculptra, EZ gel, micro needling etc. I also love training and educating! I have a passion for educating my patients as well as training other injectors. My patients always tell me I am so authentic with them and they love that I know how to say no haha. I care about my patients and it shines through in my consults, before and afters and energy in the treatment room. I am most proud of the fact that many of my patients seek me out and put their trust in me. I do not take it lightly. As an injector it is the best compliment you can receive. I think what sets me apart from others is my authenticity as well as my attention to detail and high regard for safety. My patients well being will always come first.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I follow other injectors on instagram. Having a strong network of connections helps! I also lean heavily on my mentors and friends. I also love to attend trainings and aesthetic events to continue my education and learning. One of my favorite books to reference is Facial Aging and Injection Anatomy by Lee Walker and Raul Cetto.
