Today we’d like to introduce you to April Bugarin.
Hi April, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off as a raver myself, I fell in love with the music and always appreciated the DJs and their art in music but it wasn’t until Tiesto Horizon set in San Diego 2024 where it hit me. I felt a fire inside of me telling me I need to start learning how to Dj and it went off from there. I had the opportunity to play with equipment and just mess around and little by little learned and then went all in on this dream.
I got to where I am today because I worked on my craft as well as the things people don’t see like promoting yourself, social media presence, reading a room, networking and producing. I love working towards a goal and this profession keeps throwing new types of goals that I need to reach. It feels extra special being a Latina women. I have so much to show for. I love representing the women and inspiring them that we are capable of so much and more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My struggles along the way is being a woman in this industry. Not many take you seriously or believe in you that way they would if I were a male. That also has been my favorite part. Proving them wrong.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in the Reggaeton/Latin EDM side. Playing song from my culture and what I grew up with makes my sets special and meaningful. I put a lot of thought into every single one of my sets. Now that I have started producing, I’m extremely excited to create my perfect blend of my own taste of music
What makes you happy?
Making other happy makes me happy. I’m here to serve and give people an escape
