Meet Skye Emanuel of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skye Emanuel.

Hi Skye, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started playing guitar when I was around 13 after seeing some of my friends at school play. Having a father who also played music was a huge inspiration and motivated me to start learning. From a young age, guitar became a major part of my life. I spent countless hours practicing, playing in bands, doing session work, and learning everything I could about the instrument and music in general.

Over time, I naturally became interested in creating my own music, which led me to explore music production, songwriting, and mixing. I eventually had the opportunity to begin writing music for television, an experience that pushed me to develop my craft as both a songwriter and producer.

That journey ultimately led me to start my own record label, Yippee Ki-Yay, where I collaborate with our artists to create music and place our songs in television and other sync opportunities. At the same time, I’ve continued to pursue my career as a guitarist, performing and occasionally touring with artists such as Hans Zimmer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finding a balance between work and life has been one of the more difficult challenges for me. There is always something new to learn or something I can improve on with music, which makes it easy to constantly feel like I should be working. I have a genuine obsession with music and a drive to keep getting better, and while that has pushed me forward in my career, it can also make it difficult to step away. I’m still learning how to find that balance and give myself time. It’s something I’m continuing to work on.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a producer/songwriter/guitarist. I am most proud of the music I write for artists, bands, and television.
I specialize in creating Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, and country.
I love playing all types of music on the guitar as well but I would say my strength as a guitarist is primarily rock music.
