Meet BritYah Cadot of Fullerton

Today we’d like to introduce you to BritYah Cadot.

Hi BritYah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story begins with abandonment.

When I was born, the man who was told to be my father was not there. Instead, a man my mother had recently met was there. My birth certificate, in the place of father, says “unknown”.

Growing up, I was confused, and I didn’t understand my purpose or identity.

After divorce, my mother married my stepdad, who was a music producer. He had musicians coming in and out of the house, and eventually my brother and I were inspired to write our own songs. My stepdad let us record in his studio, believed in us, encouraged us to make music, and taught me how to produce music on Reason.

As I grew up, I longed for the attention of my father, but never got it. I started taking music and basketball very seriously. My uncle allowed my brother and I to record in his studio, but when he passed away, it was a drastic change in my life. I had just graduated from college to play professional basketball overseas, but the circumstances were not good, and I ended up getting sent home.

I became really depressed. I became homeless, and eventually landed in jail with 14+ years on the line in federal prison.

In that cell, all I could think about was how I got my own brother into this situation, and that not only was my life over, but also his, and it would all be my fault. I knew something had to change. I dropped down to my knees and said, “If you get me out of this situation, I promise you I’ll change my ways.”**

And a miracle happened.

A woman dropped a program called APS that, if it was your first-time offense, as long as you kept a job for a year, stayed away from drugs, and stayed out of trouble with police, they would delete everything from your record.

From that moment, I knew that Elohim existed, and I started seeking and searching for Truth by reading books.

I began doing music a lot more. It became a way for me to express myself and the state I was in, but I was still confused about my identity and lived as a lesbian, trying to be a man. When the world shut down (COVID 19) . I had been reading different books, but I realized that a lot of what I was reading—the wisdom they called wisdom—was coming from the Bible, from what I knew as a little girl growing up.

So I started reading the Bible.

I realized that the relationship I was in was not pleasing to Elohim, and I ended up fleeing from that relationship all the way to Florida.

I realized that I needed deliverance because I was trying to stop falling in my own strength—to stop falling into sin, sexual sin, gluttony, and all these different things.

So I cried out to Elohim. I fasted. I prayed.

And I was given the truth about who I am as a woman and who Yahusha (Messiah) is, The Son of Elohim.

And Yahusha (Messiah) set me free.

I was going to give up music. I said, “You know what? I’m not going to do this music anymore.” I even wrote a whole letter about not making music anymore.

But Yahuah told me, “No. You’re going to make music for Me.”

And from there, He has blessed my music immensely. He has allowed me to perform in different states and allowed my music to be streamed in many different places over 6 million times!

And now I’m a part of an amazing label and collective called Free Indeed Music.

Now we’re able to not only make music, but be authentic in our music and give back to those who don’t have the resources they need to create music and learn how to do it.

One thing I didn’t realize was that Yahusha (Messiah) setting me free would also lead me into the truth about my biological father.

The man I didn’t know was my biological father was the one that was present at my birth! He is a U.S. Marine veteran, and sad to say, today he is locked up in ICE.

Despite the situation, because I believe in the Son of Elohim, I have something I never had before:

reconciliation to my perfect Father, Yahuah.

What began with abandonment led me to the truth and realizing I was never forsaken.

I may not have had the relationship with my earthly father that I always wanted, but Yahusha (Messiah) revealed to me the Father I was created to know.

As someone who grew up without my biological father and battled deep confusion about my identity and purpose, I know what it’s like to have a gift or talent but not clarity on how to steward it. I Co-Founded Free Indeed Music Academy to help artists find their voice in Truth.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not a smooth road at all. In my second year of marriage and first year of parenthood, my family fell into a dangerous situation after seeking a breakthrough in our lives. What seemed like a promise of hope turned into a nightmare, leading to spiritual, emotional, and physical abuse within a manipulative cult. They separated my family, silenced our music, and sought to destroy the new life i was given. I wasn’t valuing who was actually placed in my life to help me walk in purpose.
We saw their community and coveted that, seeing they’re culture and what we thought was a way out of poverty.
I wanted to be validated by man, seen and recognized and to be apart of something bigger.
However, being separated, deceived, and rejected, we were delivered by Yahusha, who showed us the truth and began restoring our family. It wasn’t until we began to accept the truth about where we were and what actually happened to us, and receive the love of Elohim in having the good news preached to us again that we were set free not just from this cult called “Rebirth” but from what brought us there in the first place. I was in Yahusha, but I went astray.
I went astray, and like, the parable of the lost sheep, He found me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Music Artist, Actress, Producer, Speaker, Author, and Truth activist. I specialize in soulful music that blends jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and contemporary sounds, using authentic storytelling to reflect love, pain, growth, identity, faith, and my walk with Yahusha (Messiah).

I’ve released seven albums and performed in different states, but what I’m most proud of is the transformation behind the music. I was a former elite professional basketball player and three-time MVP at UC Riverside, but my greatest victory came through encountering Yahusha (Messiah), who delivered me from prison, a destructive lifestyle, and identity confusion.

What sets me apart is that I don’t create music simply to entertain. I create from a place of truth and testimony. Through Free Indeed Music and Free Indeed Music Academy, I also help other artists find their voice, develop their gifts, and create with purpose.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
