Life & Work with Sang Park of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sang Park.

Hi Sang, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“I originally wanted to become an entertainer in Korea, so I spent time preparing for that path. But as I went through that process, I realized what drew me in more. was the creative work behind the scenes. I became really interested in makeup, hairstyling, and styling, and decided to study them seriously. What started as a different dream naturally led me to a career in makeup, and I’ve been passionate about it ever since.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“I wouldn’t say it was easy at first. As a man, I had never really done makeup before,
so the learning process was challenging. Practicing on each other came with its own set of discomforts. But as I kept working, watching people become more radiant and confident through makeup pulled me in. That growing sense of beauty became fascinating. Over time, the process itself became truly enjoyable.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart is how carefully I listen. No matter who it is-a bridal client or someone on a commercial set-I take time to understand exactly what they want. I ask questions, pay attention to small details, and through that process I do my best to deliver not just what they imagined, but often something even better. That commitment to careful communication and going the extra mile is something I really pride myself on.

Also, on set, I don’t see myself as just a makeup artist. I do my best to support the entire shoot, jumping in wherever I can to help. Whether it’s styling tweaks, quick fixes, or anything else that keeps things moving. I like to be right there with the team, doing whatever I can to make the day smoother and the results stronger.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me isn’t simply about working with big brands or celebrities. It’s when my work helps someone feel more confident, beautiful, and happy – that’s when I feel successful. It’s also about continuing to grow, staying creative, and building long-lasting relationships based on trust. And success for me also means staying ahead of trends, being sensitive to change, and constantly learning in order to inspire others.
