Meet Ashley & Lennon Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley & Lennon Davis.

Hi Ashley and Lennon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our story really started with realizing that, on paper, we had built the life we were supposed to want…but we didn’t feel like we were truly living it.

Back in 2022, Lennon was working as an Operations Manager in manufacturing and regularly putting in 60+ hour weeks. On top of that, he was serving in the National Guard and spending his limited free time renovating our house, all while trying to be present as a husband and father. I was home with our son and working part-time, and although we had a house, jobs, and a pretty normal routine, we constantly felt like we were just going through the motions.

We started asking ourselves a pretty uncomfortable question: *Is this really what we want our life to look like?*

We wanted more time together. We wanted to both be present for our son instead of constantly feeling like we were rushing from one responsibility to the next. And, more than anything, we wanted to actually experience life together instead of waiting for someday when we would finally have the time to do the things we dreamed about.

So in 2022, we decided to take a huge leap. We sold our remodeled house, got rid of most of what we owned, bought an RV, and hit the road as a family. Lennon left his job in manufacturing, and I picked up more work remotely to ensure we had an income when we got on the road, even if it was much less than we were originally bringing in.

We had also already planned to homeschool our son, so homeschooling on the road wasn’t really a concern for us. In fact, it felt like traveling full-time could give us an opportunity to make his education even more experiential—learning about places, history, nature, and different cultures by actually experiencing them.
We had no idea at the time where it would lead. We simply knew that we wanted to trade a life that felt like we were constantly working toward living for one where we were actually living it.

We started sharing our travels online, initially just documenting our experiences and learning how to navigate life on the road. That eventually grew into a larger social media following and, over time, our content creation became a full-time business. Today, we’ve built a community of more than 1,000,000 people across our platforms and work with tourism boards, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, travel brands, RV brands, and more.

But even with everything the business has become, the reason we started remains the same. We wanted more time together, more experiences, and a life that didn’t feel like it was passing us by. Getting on the road changed our careers, but more importantly, it changed the way we look at what a life can actually look like.

So far, we’ve visited 42 states in our RV, while also making international travel a big part of our adventures. Our goal is to eventually visit all 50 states—we’ll likely rent a van when it comes to Hawaii, but we absolutely plan to make the drive to Alaska. As for this lifestyle, we honestly don’t have an end date in sight.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When we first got on the road, our income was significantly lower than it had been before, so we had to learn how to budget very carefully and be much more intentional about where our money went. Lennon spent some time looking for a remote job, and he did find one briefly, but ultimately it wasn’t the right fit and didn’t work out.

At the same time, we were learning an entirely new way of life. We had never owned an RV before, so there was a pretty steep learning curve. Things broke, things needed to be repaired, we really had no idea what we were doing, and we learned very quickly that you can’t always plan everything when you live on the road. Campgrounds book up, plans change, and sometimes you just have to figure things out as you go. Thank goodness Lennon is so handy—he can truly do anything and I don’t foresee us being successful in this lifestyle if he wasn’t so capable!

Homeschooling has been another part of the journey that comes with its own challenges. It isn’t always easy, and there are definitely days when we have to remind ourselves that we’re learning right alongside our son. But overall, it has given us something we value tremendously: an incredible amount of quality time together as a family. We get to work with him, experience new places together, and have the flexibility to make his education part of our travels. That time together has been one of the biggest benefits of this lifestyle. We check in with him very regularly on if he wants to continue homeschooling, and it’s always a resounding yes. We also ask if he still wants to travel, or if he wants to go back into a house, and he has no interest in being in a house at this time. If that changes, we would adjust our lives accordingly because what he wants matters greatly to us.

What we didn’t expect was how much the experience would push us to develop new skills and ultimately create an entirely new career for ourselves. I went to college for Media Studies, Production and Communication, and previously worked in the news industry, so creating videos and content wasn’t completely foreign to me. Lennon, on the other hand, really developed those skills along the way. He already had his pilot’s license, which eventually led him to become a certified drone pilot, and over time we both learned videography while I also focused on photography.

Little by little, what started as something we were doing to document our travels turned into a business. We had to learn everything from content creation and storytelling to running a business and working with brands, and it took time for our income to catch back up.

Today, while we haven’t quite come full circle financially, and keeping up with the economy is tough these days, we’re living in a way that feels much more fulfilling and happier with our quality of life. We get to work together, travel together, homeschool our son, and spend our days doing things we genuinely enjoy. We’ve also fallen completely in love with international travel along the way. Getting to experience different cultures, foods, landscapes, and ways of life has become such an important part of why we continue to do this.

And honestly, life on the road is still far from perfect. Our truck is currently a mess and seems to be broken in about a dozen different ways, and our RV is getting to the point where we’ll probably need to replace it within the next year or two because something is always breaking or needing attention. There are plenty of stressful days, unexpected expenses, repairs, and moments where we wonder what the heck we’re doing.

It’s not always rainbows and butterflies, and we don’t want to pretend that it is. But even with all of that, we wouldn’t trade it.

Because when we look at what we have now—the freedom to travel, the ability to work together, the experiences we’ve shared as a family, the places we’ve gotten to see, the people we’ve met, and most importantly, the time we’ve gotten to spend together—it still feels like the right decision.

We didn’t create a perfect life. We created a life that feels like ours. And for us, that has made all the difference.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Today, our work is centered around travel, the RV lifestyle, and content creation. We work with tourism boards, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, RV brands, and outdoor companies to create photography and video that showcases destinations, experiences, and products in an authentic and engaging way. I also work part-time as a Marketing Director for a small agency, which allows me to bring another side of marketing and strategy into the work we do.

We’re most proud of the fact that we built this career from the life we chose to live. We started with an RV and a phone, simply documenting our travels, and over time turned that passion into our full-time work.

What sets us apart is that we actually live the lifestyle we create content about. We’ve been traveling full-time as a family for years, so we understand the RV and travel communities from the inside. We know what resonates with our audience because we’re part of that audience ourselves.

We’re also very intentional about what we share online, particularly when it comes to our son. We’ve chosen not to put his face on the internet because we want to protect his privacy and give him the opportunity to make that decision for himself someday, when he’s old enough to understand the nuances and permanence of having a digital footprint. He’s a huge part of our life and our travels, but not everything about our family needs to be shared publicly.

Ultimately, we’re proud that this lifestyle has allowed us to build careers we genuinely enjoy while giving us more time together as a family. We get to travel, create, learn, and experience the world together—and that’s really what we were hoping for when we first decided to get on the road.

What were you like growing up?
**Ashley**

I grew up traveling with my family, mostly internationally, so I developed a love for travel pretty early on. I was happiest outside…I loved rollerblading, being in the woods, hanging out with friends, and just exploring. I played tennis competitively and was actually pretty good at it. I was a bit of a loner, though. I never really had one specific friend group; I had friends from different groups and was pretty comfortable doing my own thing. I could rollerblade for hours, sometimes all the way across town by myself, completely happy in my own little world.

I also absolutely loved animals and still do. I was a little goofy and definitely had my nerdy interests..I loved (and still do) *The Lord of the Rings*, *Star Trek*, *Star Wars*, and all of that good stuff. I was a good student, although I hated school and mostly just did what I needed to do to get good grades.

I also had a lot of fun growing up with my sister. Of course, we fought as sisters do, but we shared so many experiences that she’s still the only person who understands most of my references and random jokes without me having to explain them.

**Lennon**

I was always an outdoors kid. I spent most of my time outside with my friends, exploring the woods, biking as far as I could, and basically looking for the next adventure. I didn’t have much fear and always wanted to see how far I could go or what I could get myself into. As I got older, that turned into snowboarding, cliff jumping, sky diving and pretty much anything that gave me a little adrenaline.

I absolutely hated school. I struggled with being confined to a classroom when all I wanted to do was get outside and go somewhere. Looking back, I think that’s probably a big part of why I eventually gravitated toward aviation and meteorology in college. I’ve always been curious about the world and drawn to anything that involves adventure, the outdoors, and the freedom to explore.
