Rising Stars: Meet Michael Marcel of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Marcel.

Hi Michael , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was 5 years old
These colorful people were on the television screen kicking, flipping and tossing about battling grey mongols. That’s when I knew I would become an actor.

It began taking roles in school plays and church productions. I still remember being transported to a green world on stage for St. Patrick’s day in the 2nd grade or giving the speech on Capitol Hill as Dr. King in 3rd grade.

Since then class after class book after book, I’ve learned to master the craft. Commanding my body and emotions as the project or the characters I portray in TV and film may need.

You can find my latest role as Kevin in “Leaving Mr. Right for Mr. Wrong on Gamma Time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth roads always have you lost. Moving close to the speed of light. You know the car you know the road. You’re always in control. Same goes for a bumpy road. Only difference is the flux in speed. There are slow downs but you’re still in control.

My only obstacles so far have been loneliness and an unsteady pay check. It’s tough for people that are not an artist or thespian to fully understand you. And hanging around other artists is like being high 24/7 just on the vibe.

Only struggles now are recovery from heartbreak of the one and the industry’s recovery.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actor, and a hobbyist filmmaker.

I own a production company that specializes in altering your perspective on the norms of society. 7Thirds Productions. Our last short has made a small splash at a few festivals and won a couple awards including best cinematography and best actor and actress.

As an actor I’ve been through the gambit working indie films to working with some of the best and brightest in the industry like Tyler Perry and Ridley Scott.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Making a wish on the first star I saw in the night sky using the Disney verbiage “…I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight…” and within 24hrs that wish came true.
