Exploring Life & Business with Monica Azoulay of Speaker, Coach, Podcast Host, and Creator of the RESET Methodology and Main Stage Systems

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Azoulay.

Hi Monica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For most of my life, I was the woman who could handle everything. I worked hard, took care of the people around me, solved problems, and kept moving forward even when life was incredibly difficult.

From the outside, that looked like strength. And in many ways, it was. But underneath it were patterns I didn’t understand yet—perfectionism, control, people-pleasing, and the belief that I had to do everything on my own.

My life has included profound loss, including losing my son, health struggles, and the end of a 29-year marriage. There have been multiple moments when the life I thought I was going to have no longer existed, and I had to figure out who I was outside of the roles, relationships, and responsibilities that had defined me.

My transformation didn’t happen all at once. It happened through one decision at a time.

I began rebuilding my health and eventually lost 195 pounds. But the physical transformation was only the most visible part of what was changing. I was also learning to listen to myself, trust myself, and recognize how much of my life had been shaped by survival.

I started looking more closely at the behaviors I had spent years criticizing. Why did I feel responsible for everything? Why was it so difficult to rest? Why did I believe I had to get everything right? Why was asking for help so uncomfortable?

I began to understand that those behaviors weren’t random and they weren’t evidence that something was wrong with me. They were clues. They pointed to the experiences that had shaped me, the beliefs I had formed about myself, and the ways I had learned to feel safe.

Instead of asking, “What is wrong with me?” I began asking, “What is this behavior trying to show me?”

That question changed my life and eventually became the foundation of my work.

I became a Certified Master Life Coach and Integrative Health Coach, wrote my Amazon bestselling book, *The Lie Is Loud*, launched my podcast, *Unshakeable Belief*, and created the RESET Methodology. Today, I call myself a Behavior and Identity Investigator because I help women look beneath their patterns and understand the unseen stories influencing how they live, work, lead, and see themselves.

My work is especially close to my heart because I know what it feels like to look at your life and realize you don’t fully recognize yourself anymore. I also know that it is possible to reconnect with who you are without erasing everything you have been through.

Now, at 49, I’m rebuilding again—not only personally, but professionally. I’m growing my work as an author, speaker, and coach while also building a new career and business. I recently founded Main Stage Systems, an operations and systems company that supports speakers, authors, coaches, and other visionaries with the structure behind their work.

It may seem like a separate path, but to me, it is deeply connected. I have always been able to see what is happening beneath the surface, identify what is missing, and create a path forward. Whether I’m helping a woman understand her behavior or helping a business owner build the systems that support her vision, the goal is the same: creating the clarity and structure needed for what comes next.

I want people to see through my story that rebuilding does not have an expiration date. You can experience loss. You can watch a chapter end that you thought would last forever. You can realize the career or identity you built no longer fits. And you can still begin again.

You don’t have to pretend the difficult parts never happened. You can honor everything you have survived while deciding that your story is still being written.

I didn’t get here by becoming someone completely different. I got here by reconnecting with the woman who had been there all along—and finally giving her permission to build a life that feels like her own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. One of my greatest struggles was that, for a long time, I was committed to protecting the image of a perfect life.

I wanted people to see a strong woman, a successful marriage, a stable family, and someone who always had everything under control. When things were difficult, I became even better at making them look fine. I knew how to smile, show up, accomplish what needed to be done, and keep the mess safely out of view.

Part of that came from wanting to protect the people I loved. Part of it came from fear—fear of being judged, misunderstood, or seen differently if people knew the truth. And part of it was because I had spent so much time maintaining the image that I wasn’t always being completely honest with myself about how unhappy, disconnected, or exhausted I had become.

Eventually, keeping up the appearance became heavier than telling the truth.

Rebuilding my life required me to remove that veil and allow people to see the parts of my story that weren’t polished. It meant acknowledging that my marriage was ending after 29 years. It meant admitting that I didn’t have everything figured out and that being the woman who could handle anything had come at a cost.

“Unveiled” became my word for this season because that is exactly what this chapter has required of me. I have had to stop hiding behind accomplishment, strength, and the version of my life that looked good from the outside. I have had to let myself be seen while I am still rebuilding—not only after everything is beautifully resolved.

That has been uncomfortable. I am an author, speaker, coach, and business owner, and there can be pressure to appear as though you have arrived before you are qualified to help someone else. But I don’t believe people need another carefully curated version of perfection. They need to know that change can be messy, grief and hope can exist together, and you can still have something meaningful to offer while you are finding your own way forward.

The most difficult part of this road has not simply been watching parts of my life change. It has been releasing the belief that I needed to protect the image of who I was supposed to be.

But removing that veil has also given me freedom. It has allowed me to build relationships, a career, and a life based on what is true rather than what merely looks good. It has made my work more honest because I am no longer asking other women to do something I am unwilling to do myself.

I am letting the messy parts be seen, trusting that they do not diminish my credibility or my worth. They are evidence that I am human—and that it is possible to tell the truth about your life and still believe deeply in what comes next.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My work has two distinct but deeply connected sides: helping women rebuild from the inside and helping visionary business owners build the structure that supports what they are creating.

Through my personal brand, I am an author, speaker, coach, podcast host, and creator of the RESET Methodology. I specialize in helping high-capacity women understand the unseen stories shaping their behavior and identity.

I am known for the phrase “Behavior Leaves Clues.” I believe the patterns we are quickest to criticize—perfectionism, control, people-pleasing, avoidance, and extreme self-reliance—often developed for a reason. Instead of asking, “What is wrong with me?” my work invites women to ask, “What is this behavior trying to show me?”

That shift from judgment to investigation is at the heart of the RESET Methodology. I help women recognize how their experiences, nervous systems, core wounds, and learned survival strategies have influenced the way they live. From there, they can reconnect with themselves, rebuild self-trust, and make choices based on who they want to become rather than who they had to be to survive.

My offerings include speaking, transformational coaching programs, my Amazon bestselling book, *The Lie Is Loud*, and my podcast, *Unshakeable Belief*, where I explore identity, faith, behavior, healing, and what it means to rebuild your life.

I am also preparing to launch *Inside the Reading Room*, a video-first documentary podcast that examines true-crime cases through evidence, behavior, context, and responsible investigation. While the subject matter is different from my transformational work, the underlying philosophy is the same: look beyond the obvious, question the accepted story, and follow the clues.

My work is designed especially for the woman who appears capable and successful on the outside but privately feels exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of who she is beyond everything she does for other people.

What sets my approach apart is that I do not teach transformation as though it is simply a matter of trying harder, thinking positively, or becoming more disciplined. I look at the whole person. We investigate the story behind the behavior, how the body has learned to respond, what the person believes about herself, and whether those beliefs still belong in the life she is creating.

The second side of my work is Main Stage Systems, an executive support and operations company for speakers, authors, coaches, and expert-led brands. I created it after seeing how many talented women have powerful ideas but lack the behind-the-scenes structure needed to bring those ideas to life without becoming overwhelmed.

Through Main Stage Systems, I help business owners organize and support the work happening beyond the stage or public platform. That can include developing workflows and standard operating procedures, organizing content and digital assets, managing podcast and speaking pipelines, supporting newsletters and content production, improving client onboarding, assisting with CRM systems, and creating repeatable processes for work that currently lives inside the founder’s head.

I think of it as building the structure behind the vision. My clients do not necessarily need more ideas; they need someone who can understand the vision, notice what is missing, and help create the systems that make the work sustainable.

Although these two branches serve different needs, they come from the same ability I have carried throughout my life: I see patterns. I can walk into a complicated personal story, an investigative file, or an overwhelmed business, look beneath what is happening on the surface, identify where the disconnection is occurring, and begin creating clarity.

In my transformational work, I investigate the patterns behind behavior. In *Inside the Reading Room*, I investigate the evidence behind a story. In my operations work, I investigate the patterns behind how a business functions. In all three, I look beyond the surface and help make the unseen visible.

What I am most proud of is that my brand is becoming an honest reflection of who I am. It does not require me to hide the difficult chapters, pretend I have always had everything figured out, or separate my lived experience from my professional expertise. My story informs my work, but it does not limit it.

I want readers to know that there is no expiration date on rebuilding. You can change your life, reconnect with yourself, begin a new career, or build a new business at any age. You do not have to discard everything you have experienced to move forward. When you understand the clues your life has left behind, even the hardest chapters can become part of the foundation for what you build next.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The Bible is the resource I return to most. My faith helps me stay grounded when life feels uncertain and reminds me that my identity is not determined by my productivity, circumstances, or other people’s opinions. Even a few quiet minutes of Scripture, prayer, and reflection can change the way I enter the rest of my day.

One of my favorite books is *The Traveler’s Gift*. I love the way it explores the decisions we make about how we will respond to life, particularly when our circumstances are not what we hoped they would be. It reminds me that although we cannot control everything that happens to us, we still have agency in what we choose next. That message has remained meaningful through many different seasons of my life.

I also believe deeply in coaching—not only because I am a coach, but because I am coached. Having people in my life who ask thoughtful questions, challenge the stories I am telling myself, and help me recognize my own patterns has been essential. I don’t believe we are meant to do all of our growth alone.

I read and research extensively across behavior, identity, trauma, nervous-system regulation, holistic health, faith, and personal transformation. I am naturally curious, so books, podcasts, research studies, documentaries, and long-form conversations often become starting points for a much deeper investigation. I rarely consume something passively; I am usually asking how it connects to a behavior I have observed or a question I am exploring.

From a practical standpoint, Google Calendar helps me turn my intentions into actual commitments. I have learned that if the things supporting my well-being—coaching, movement, Bible study, rest, and creative work—are not given space in my schedule, responsibilities will quickly consume that space instead.

Riverside is another important tool in my professional life because it allows me to record podcasts, interviews, and teaching content. Podcasting gives me room to explore ideas with more nuance than a short social-media post allows, which matters to me because human behavior rarely fits into a sound bite.

Ultimately, the resources that help me most are the ones that bring me back to truth, curiosity, and connection. I want tools that help me understand myself more honestly, organize what matters, and continue learning—not tools that make me feel as though I need to optimize every second of my life.
