Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Pharoh.
Hi Elijah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Singer /songwriter from Dallas TX.
I found my love for music at 20 years old and after finding my mother’s Best of Sade CD in her car after I started driving it while mine was getting fixed after an accident.I knew I wanted to do this even if I was scared..
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Fear, hanging out with people in my early 20s that didn’t nurture my dreams but instead tried to keep me feeling small..Crabs in a barrel mentality.
I was also born into a family of people that while I love them dearly where not supportive at all of my artistic endeavors.
I remember I hadn’t even told my father yet I made music but he saw clues like seeing printouts of song lyrics I was covering or me singing in the house and he’d tell me to stop pursuing music.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My story,
Hailing from the heart of DFW, Texas, and now rooted in Austin, Elijah Pharoh is more than just a singer-songwriter—he’s a storyteller, a seeker, and an artist determined to turn vulnerability into strength. With a dream to one day share his music on a global stage, Elijah’s path has been anything but easy—but that’s exactly what fuels the fire in his voice.
In his early twenties, Elijah made a life-altering decision—to drop out of college and dedicate himself fully to music. The years that followed were filled with uncertainty, odd jobs, open mics, creative pauses, and soul-searching. But out of that chaotic mix came a clarity and passion that now defines his sound.
“I’m more focused than ever on making my dream a reality,” Elijah shares.
His music draws from a wide range of influences—soul, jazz, and alternative elements blending into something uniquely his. Inspired by legends like Donny Hathaway, The Temptations, and Teddy Pendergrass, Elijah pays tribute to timeless voices while carving his own lane. From Michael McDonald to The Beach Boys, his musical DNA is rich, textured, and emotionally charged.
Miss Jamison: A Cathartic Debut
Miss Jamison, Elijah Pharoh’s debut single, is a raw and poetic reflection of emotional escapism. Written in just one day, the song was born from a place of internal struggle and healing. While it may sound like a romantic ballad at first, Miss Jamison cleverly uses metaphor—referencing not a woman, but Jameson whiskey, a symbol of numbing pain during darker times.
“I wanted to make a song that spoke about healing in a relatable way. ‘Miss Jamison’ sounds like a love song, but it’s really about healing.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Im still looking myself.
Id say go to live shows and meet other artists and network
