**Analía Centurión** is an internationally recognized Argentine Tango dancer, master teacher, choreographer, author, and cultural ambassador born in Chacabuco, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. With more than 30 years of experience in both Tango Salón and Tango Escenario, she is known for her refined technique, strong milonguero roots, musicality, and pedagogical approach that integrates tradition, body awareness, and personal development.

Her artistic education began at the age of six through the study of piano and classical ballet, disciplines that continue to influence her understanding of movement, musical interpretation, and artistic expression within Argentine Tango.

Analía began dancing tango in 1995 and, only two years later, became the Youth Tango Champion of the Province of Buenos Aires in Tango Escenario. She trained extensively with some of the most respected milongueros and tango masters of Buenos Aires, including Mingo Pugliese, Puppy Castello, Gerardo Portalea, Toto Faraldo, Gavito, and Negra Margarita. In 2004, she graduated from the prestigious “Styles of Argentine Tango” professional training program.

Throughout her career, Analía has worked with some of the most important companies and productions in Argentine Tango. She performed with Mariano Mores, the Juan Carlos Copes Company, and the Mora Godoy Company, and appeared in renowned Buenos Aires tango productions including Piazzolla Tango, Madero Tango, La Ventana, and La Cumparsita Tango Show under the direction of Luis Bravo, creator of Forever Tango.

She has collaborated and shared the stage with some of the most respected figures in Argentine Tango. Analía was the dance partner of Gabriel Missé during several international tours and projects between 2008 and 2015. She has also performed alongside Jorge Torres and Junior Cervila. Today, she continues to develop artistic, educational, and festival projects with Leonardo Sardella and Pablo Giorgini.

Her international career has taken her to festivals, theaters, and cultural events throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. A notable milestone was her participation in the St. Petersburg International Tango Festival, Russia (2011), where she was invited as a featured teacher and performer together with Gabriel Missé.

Analía has taught and performed in Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Australia, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Greece, Russia, the Baltic countries, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Uruguay, the Philippines, and throughout the United States.

She proudly represented Argentine culture at the prestigious Vail International Dance Festival (USA), sharing the stage with artists from the American Ballet Theatre and the Martha Graham Dance Company. Her work has been featured in The New Yorker and mentioned multiple times in The New York Times.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey was full of challenges, especially in a small town where we didn’t have much information about tango.

A few videos and magazines. I started at a local tango workshop with children and teenagers. My style was more stage-oriented, and over time I refined my social tango. My first partner and I got started; I was 16 and he was 15. Our families supported us and helped us every step of the way—with trips and competitions.

I didn’t have tango shoes or dresses, so I adapted regular shoes for dancing, and my mom designed my dresses.

I won a very important competition in the province of Buenos Aires when I was 18, and that’s when I began to have more confidence in my path as a dancer.

Opportunities and trips began to come in, as did teaching jobs in the city—in Chacabuco. But to continue growing, I moved to Buenos Aires, where everything was more professional and intense.

The pace of the big city was exhausting. The demands were different, but my passion kept me going. It was hard to manage on my own. My parents weren’t there anymore, and I wasn’t living with them.

So I often ate poorly, or felt exhausted from walking around the city and getting lost in it.

But my enthusiasm for continuing to learn and dance in the best shows was my priority. The journey isn’t difficult if you have clear goals, even though sometimes your focus shifts and your dreams grow bigger. And I met great choreographers and dancer friends who make the journey more enjoyable.

Right now, I feel at peace with my passion for tango. I travel the world sharing my art and getting to know new communities.

Because tango is within every one of us, and everyone experiences it with enthusiasm. Even when we face frustrations, there are always hugs waiting for us.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Argentine tango dancer; I consider myself a multifaceted artist, since I not only dance but also teach social and stage tango.

I’m also a classical dance and piano teacher (although I’m not currently working in that field), having received training in those disciplines when I was younger.

I’m also a graphic designer, and this broadens my creative horizons for both dancing and teaching. I’m active in the digital space with my online tango academy, creating special themed programs to break down barriers and share my knowledge with more tango dancers around the world.

These experiences and conversations with my students give me the energy to keep creating. I’ve written two hybrid books; they’re living, interactive books designed to encourage readers to take action—not just to dance well, but to feel better and supported.

I continue to develop as a dancer and teacher, and I keep sharing my experience with everyone I connect with. Sometimes it takes a long time, and other times it’s just a simple conversation that helps keep me inspired.

To be able to write and create, I continue to learn from mentors who have more experience than I do, so I can keep expanding my knowledge.

To dance well, you don’t just have to practice dance—you also have to practice other disciplines. Right now, I’m also training in boxing because I connected with something new by going back to being a beginner and embracing the humility of not knowing.

Over the course of my 30-year career, I’ve had countless experiences: moving around, working with different partners, breakups, disappointments—I’ve traveled the world alone, lived in Japan, and spent time in Europe, sometimes performing in tango shows, other times teaching, and still other times participating in festivals and competitions.

There were times when I danced exclusively in major shows in Buenos Aires; other times I created choreography for others; and I’ve performed in many milongas (social dance venues) around the world.

Other times, I find myself in small communities that need more encouragement to keep learning. I feel there’s so much to do, and more people around the world are dancing tango. But I believe everyone should have these experiences. Tango is family, your home, and a sacred place. Below is my resume and website.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The ones who really deserve recognition are my family. For always being there for me,
In the beginning, that meant being there for me in the literal sense—driving me around, creating stage sets, building my two tango studios. Taking me to festivals,
typing up press releases. Designing my dresses.
Traveling wherever we needed to go, making phone calls to secure performances. Scouting venues. Paying for my classes. All with the mindset, “If you can’t find it, you can create it.”
