Check Out Andreea Magdalina’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreea Magdalina.

Hi Andreea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Romania and went to London for my university studies. London is where I cultivated my interest in technology, kicking off my career in the startup scene while deepening my passion for music by attending raves and connecting with local promoters. A couple of years after graduating I started working with a music tech startup called Mixcloud and, as part of that job, I ended up in LA doing business development for them. I fell in love with LA, people’s openness and potential to reach the very top of the entertainment world, so I decided to stay. I worked with a couple of agencies at the intersection of tech and culture, before kicking off my work with Coachella in 2022 as part of the Innovation team where I’m involved in community projects and artist partnerships across disruptive tech such as AI, gaming, mixed reality and more. In parallel, I currently also work with Amsterdam Dance Event, where I oversee their Pro conference program, and spearhead shesaid.so, a global community of music industry professionals, artists and creatives on a mission to unlock the music business to all through networking, mentoring and partnerships.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey here has been adventurous, to say the least. Moving away from home, twice, has been both challenging and incredibly enriching at the same time. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to know myself and the world in ways I didn’t expect. Building a career in music as an outsider is no easy feat – unless you know people who know people or graduate from the “right” university – and I’ve been lucky enough to come across individuals who opened doors for me, giving me the opportunity to pave my own way. Hard work, resilience and nurturing authentic relationships with people have been key in building my network and my career, which now spans internationally.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m mostly known as a community builder, thanks to my work with shesaid.so which has amassed over 15,000 global members over the past 12 years since I launched it in London. At the same time, my interest in technology and strategically focused approach continue to place me across projects that are truly pushing boundaries in music and entertainment.

How do you think about luck?
That’s a great question. Most of my life I didn’t really believe in luck, I firmly thought luck is the result of hard work. Over the years, I started cultivating more of a community-centric approach to life and focusing less on myself as an individual that’s separate from the rest of the world. As I did that, I started feeling more fulfilled and aligned within myself, which then brought ease into my life and opportunities started coming my way instead of me having to chase them. Do you call this luck? Perhaps.
