Conversations with Teresa Casas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa Casas.

Hi Teresa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Within the first year we evolved into a “Build your own Candle Bar” where customers pick what candle/vessel they prefer that has the scent of their choosing, then they get to pick whatever they would like to decorate it with. I then put it together by fusing all items with my heat gun.

Currently, we are looking into expanding and would love to build a website to have a place where people can go and learn about the process and understand how when they burn their candle, they are left with a beautiful piece of pottery that they can then use for its intentional purpose. Whether it was a cup or a salsa dish.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I take inventory, it does not seem like it’s been a rough road. I am the begging of the journey and have so many more mountains to climb. I have enjoyed all the learnings and growth. And can’t wait for the growth that is coming.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started a hobby and had no idea that I had a talent for pouring candles. I started with one mold, then another, then any candle that is part of my collection has color and character and a soul. I feel like I am growing personally as my talents increase.
I then work with each client to create their own candle. To grow their vision and maybe a creative vibe they did not know they had. It’s fun to watch the process.
I learn from each one of my clients including the children that have taught me to expand my creative muscle.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep going. Listen, and be coachable. Keep a humble heart and always remember that business is business.
