Conversations with Emad Alayoubi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emad Alayoubi.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story has never really been a straight line. I’ve always been someone who wanted to create, entertain, and be around interesting people, but at the same time I was pursuing opportunities in entertainment. I’ve acted, worked in radio, and eventually got opportunities to work on projects including Ballers, Graceland, and Netflix’s The Mendez Brothers. Background in the new DC lanterns.

What I’ve learned along the way is that you can have a plan, but life is going to throw things at you that force you to change direction. I’ve had to reinvent myself more than once from a sports guy to a dad. Today I’m focused on building my own lane through entertainment, storytelling, interviews, and my Whiskey Talks brand, as well as reality TV.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. There have been a lot of highs, but there have also been some pretty difficult lows. I’ve dealt with setbacks professionally, financially, and personally. There have been moments where I questioned whether I should keep pushing or just take the easier route.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that setbacks can either define you or force you to grow. I’ve had to outgrow certain people, situations, and even versions of myself. Going through difficult periods taught me to stop waiting for someone else to give me an opportunity and start creating my own. I think the biggest thing is that I’m still here, still creating, and still willing to take risks. That means more to me than having everything go perfectly.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an entertainer and storyteller at heart. I’ve worked in acting, radio, interviewing, and entertainment media, and I love being in environments where there’s a real story behind the person.

I’ve had the opportunity to work on projects like Ballers, Graceland, and The Mendez Brothers, and I’ve also worked in the entertainment-news world. But what I’m most interested in now is creating my own opportunities rather than waiting for someone to hand them to me. Nothing is handed to you. I’ve never had that luck of being handed something.

That’s a big part of what Whiskey Talks represents for me. I want conversations that feel real — not overly rehearsed or polished. I think what sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to be myself. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve had setbacks. I’ve had some incredible experiences, and I’m willing to talk about all of it. That’s why I want to produce my own realty TV show as well, the way a show should be done.

I’m probably most proud of being a father and showing my son that you can keep going after something even when the path gets difficult. Career accomplishments are great, but knowing I’m setting an example for him means more to me.

What makes you happy?
My son makes me happy. Watching him grow, coaching him, seeing the things he gets excited about, and being there for him puts everything into perspective.

Beyond that, I’m happiest when I’m creating something. Whether it’s filming, interviewing someone with an interesting story, working on Whiskey Talks, acting, or coming up with a new idea. I like having something to chase.

I’ve realized that happiness for me isn’t about having a perfect life. It’s about having people I love around me, having something I’m passionate about, and knowing I’m still moving forward. I’ve been through enough to appreciate the simple things a lot more now.
