Hi Sharifah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Sharifah Hardie is a brand strategist, business consultant, speaker, and author with three decades of experience helping visionary entrepreneurs build companies that bring them clients, not just compliments.

From boardrooms to keynote stages, Sharifah has guided hundreds of founders through the journey from idea to income to legacy. She believes great brands aren’t built on talent alone; they’re built on clarity, courage, and a strategy that elevates.

Her work has been featured across media platforms, and her newest book Path to Politics distills three decades of leadership lessons into a blueprint for impact.

She ran for Long Beach City Council in 2020 and CA State Senate District 33 in 2024. She launched The People’s Chamber of Commerce in 2025. Sharifah is a person on the rise.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road. My journey has been filled with real life challenges that forced me to become resilient very early on. I became a teenage mother, and from that moment, life was never about just me anymore. I had to learn responsibility, survival, and perseverance while still trying to figure out who I was myself.

Over the years, I have experienced major setbacks. I have lost everything I owned and had to rebuild from the ground up. I have been laid off eight different times, which taught me very quickly that stability is never guaranteed and that sometimes you have to create your own opportunities instead of waiting for someone else to give them to you.

I have also gone through two divorces, which were both painful and life changing in different ways. Those experiences taught me about strength, healing, and rediscovering myself. There were moments when I could have given up, but I kept moving forward because I believed there was still purpose in my story.

Every challenge shaped me into the woman I am today. The struggles gave me compassion, resilience, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. They are also the reason I am so passionate about helping others overcome obstacles, build businesses, pursue their goals, and realize that setbacks do not have to define their future.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing that surprises a lot of people is that even though I am known as an entrepreneur, media personality, and business leader, I actually prefer being an employee. Most people assume I always wanted to build businesses and be in charge, but the truth is I value stability, teamwork, structure, and being part of something bigger than myself.

A lot of my entrepreneurial journey came from necessity, not because I thought entrepreneurship was easy or glamorous. After being laid off eight times, I learned very quickly that sometimes you have to create your own opportunities when traditional paths become unpredictable.

People see the public side of my brand, but behind that is someone who has rebuilt her life multiple times. Those experiences shaped my resilience and my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

I think that combination surprises people most. I can lead, build, create, and inspire others, but at my core, I am still someone who understands the value of hard work, consistency, and simply wanting security and peace.
