Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Vanessa Escamilla of West Hollywood

Vanessa Escamilla shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Vanessa, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of my work, I volunteer with A Sense of Home, helping create fully furnished homes for foster youth aging out of the system — decorating and styling spaces that bring joy and truly fill my heart. I also rescue dogs at risk of euthanasia, giving them a second chance at life.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Vanessa Escamilla, a creative producer, location scout, and prop stylist working across events, photo shoots, set design, and experiential storytelling. I began my career producing events nationally and later expanded into prop styling during the Covid pandemic.

My work centers on music, nightlife, fashion and subculture. For over a decade, I’ve produced projects for brands and talent alike, with clients including Galantis, Olivia Rodrigo, Kourtney Kardashian, Migos, Levi’s, Spotify, YSL Beauté, Zoe Report, etc. My approach lives at the intersection of culture, space, and storytelling, with a focus on mood, detail, and experience.

Alongside production, I create environments that feel lived-in, intentional, and culturally fluent — spaces where fashion, narrative, and atmosphere quietly converge. Recent work includes set design and prop styling for Adidas x Jeremy Scott, 1800 Tequila, and iconic immersive Airbnb experiences including the Bad Bunny Big Rig, Sex and the City apartment, Scream house, and a sleepover at FAO Schwarz,

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That my life path was already set out for me, I would never leave my home state, I would marry my childhood sweet heart and likely die young.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could speak to my younger self, I’d say: have faith, be fearless, and don’t let anyone convince you that you can’t. Dream without limits, embrace life’s endless possibilities, and remember that self-love is the greatest love of all.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
individuality and authenticity

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve followed my soul’s journey and stepped into what I was born to do. I can only hope to continue striving higher, giving back, and creating with even greater purpose.
