We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sarah Daye. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Sarah , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Absolutely. It’s been a season of divine alignment. I just finished a single with Narada Michael Walden—the legendary producer hit maker behind Whitney, Mariah, Aretha, and George Michael—and that alone felt like a dream unfolding. Then my dear friend Kevin Flournoy—the powerhouse producer and pianist fresh off the Queens of Soul tour with Chaka, Patti, Stephanie, and Anita—stepped onstage with me, played alongside me, and said, “You’re ready for stadiums.” When someone who’s shared stages with Aretha and the greatest voices of our time tells you that… it shakes something awake in you.
On top of that, Kevin Nash from Stevie Wonder’s KJLH called my single “Catch Me (If I Fall)” with Chuckii Booker a smash hit, I was invited to record on a Taylor Swift session with a colleague who’s already placed two songs with her, and then the call came: I’m booked as a featured artist at the famous Rose Bowl with Magic Johnson as the Grand Marshal this year.
These moments—they don’t just make me proud. They ignite me. They remind me that the work, the grind, the late nights, the faith… it’s all resonating. I can feel my purpose aligning with my path. And every bit of it fuels the fire that tells me I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sarah Daye. An internationally touring, Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, widely recognized by the press as a modern Soul Diva and a rising force in the Hollywood music scene. My journey began in Toronto and carried me across five countries during six transformative years in Southeast Asia, performing for luxury properties and elite international stages before building my creative home in Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve shared stages with icons and greats such as Bobby Brown, Bruno Mars, Andra Day, Eric Benét, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Eubanks, and many others. Each collaboration adding depth, soul, and global color to my artistry.
I’ve headlined top music venues, high-end brand showcases, international festivals, and major stadiums—including two standout years fronting high-profile shows at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Known as a versatile crossover artist with magnetic presence, infectious energy, and powerhouse vocals both onstage and in the studio, I continue to move fluidly between genres and productions. Recently, I was called in to record vocals for a Taylor Swift single and booked to feature at the historic Rose Bowl, marking another exciting chapter in my performance career.
My shows blend soul, glamour, and heartfelt storytelling, supported by world-class musicians such as Kevin Flournoy, fresh off the Queens of Soul tour with Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker, and Stephanie Mills—a few of the very women who shaped my earliest inspirations.
In Los Angeles, I’ve built a powerhouse creative circle with my Grammy Award–winning drummer and Music Director to the stars, Stacey Lamont Sydnor, along with legendary musicians and hitmakers including Kevin Flournoy, Chuckii Booker, and Narada Michael Walden. Together, we’ve crafted the signature “Lady Daye” sound. A fusion of soulful roots, pop-infused vintage glam, and cinematic emotion. brought to life with my Daye Dream Team band headlining top LA venues through out the south bay.
My current single, “Catch Me (If I Fall)” featuring Chuckii Booker, is out now, offering a first glimpse into the next chapter of my artistry. Next up is a fun, catchy new single with legendary Narada Michael Walden (Whitney, Aretha, Mariah), an uptempo release in the works with Chuckii Booker, and my live EP in its final stages with Stacey Lamont Sydnor and Kevin Flournoy—a body of work shaped by fire, elegance, and lived experience, featuring my Daye Dream Team and honoring our late, beloved bassist John Steward.
As I roll out new singles, curated merch, and my upcoming EP, I’m expanding into global collaborations and elevated performances. I warmly invite audiences everywhere into the Daye Dream. A world of soul, style, and unforgettable artistic energy.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My dear dad has been one of my greatest inspirations. His example taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and never giving up. He’s always encouraged my confidence, my work ethic, and my belief in myself, and his influence continues to guide me in everything I do.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Coming from a broken home and navigating divorce courts with my parents, I faced a great deal of dysfunction and emotional turbulence as a young girl. With an alcoholic mother and the challenges that came with that environment, I turned to music and dance as my refuge. They became my first disciplines, and creative outlets that truly saved me.
My dear dad used to serenade me from the time I was a baby, which brought so much healing and planted the earliest seeds of my musical inspiration. As I grew older, I had the joy of singing with him, and I continued to escape into music on my own, singing and dancing in my room, curling up with my kitty cat for comfort, and creating dance routines with my best friend as a way to release anxiety, stress, and everything I didn’t yet have words for.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Love & Unity, culture, family, community support and fun. Including laughter & joy of course through song and dance to uplift spirits too.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m doing what I love every day. Whether I’m on stage or in the studio, creating, performing, and sharing my voice, while uplifting spirits through music and movement. That’s where I feel truly aligned.
Outside of my work, I find peace with my loved ones, with my family, and especially aboard my sailboat Lady Daye in Marina del Rey with my sweet kitty, Sunny Daye. The marina has become my sanctuary, my getaway from the constant hustle and bustle of the industry and the place where I can breathe, reset, and reconnect with myself.
