Zander Reddis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Zander, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Practicing fire eating/breathing, and working with various fire props. I’ve been focusing more on developing new skills this past year, and since handling fire requires full attention, I find it a very exciting but grounding experience.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Primarily I work for Dunable Guitars, assembling USA custom shop guitars and basses. After they are cut, sanded, and painted, I or my department head take care of the rest needed to get the instrument fully ready to play. Frets, hardware and electronics placing and installation, and setups. I also work on personal client instruments occasionally.
I am currently playing bass for two bands, SIXES and Dark Crone (vocals also for Dark Crone).
SIXES played our first show back after a hiatus last September, currently we are working on our second album and planning shows for this year.
Dark Crone is wrapping up the last bits of our first album, looking to release and play shows around later this year.
My prior side quest that has become a bit of a passion project is fire eating and various forms of fire manipulation. I am very grateful to continue learning from several great teachers, and aim to combine this with music, or perform it separately, later this year as well.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The need to over-prepare for everything.
I used to feel this was the only way to guarantee comfortability or confidence at anything. While I still try to do as much in advance as I can, sometimes that simply isn’t possible. Also, I’ve realized I learn better by actually just doing things, making mistakes, and having an opportunity to fix them. This has lead to feeling much more comfortable learning new skills or stepping beyond my comfort zone without so much advance research.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
A lot of things you are afraid of will actually happen. It is never easy or quick, but you will likely still carry on, and hopefully become better and wiser for it.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Ghosts, energies, and extraterrestrial beings all are real, we just can’t quantify them yet.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
When I don’t even know what questions to ask to understand how to reach a goal.
