Yotam Weiss shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Yotam, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
At the end of 2025, in the thick of touring all around the world with Jessie Murph, I’ve worked on an arrangement for Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” that Jessie wanted to add to her Jingle Ball set which was the final run we were on for 2025. We had a bold vision of what it is that we want to bring to the stage and in the same time we were constantly moving around which made it a little hard to focus, but eventually, after some revisions, we loved what we came up with and then the moment of truth arrived and this arrangement was performed in front of a massive crowd, and once our vision turned into reality and actually moved people in the crowd is when I felt extremely proud. Later on, closer to the end of the Jingle Ball run it became a crowd favorite moment that went viral online and Sony Columbia Records and iHeartRadio released it as a record.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Yotam Weiss, I am a Musician. I mostly work as a Drummer, Musical Director and a Producer. I love live music, I’m a fan of music of all genres and a true believer in musicianship and friendship as a key to success in the creative process.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents always pushed me to pursue my interests, take it seriously and not get distracted but the surrounding noises, they were the first ones to understand that I have a special thing with music and even as a grown up, when I had doubt in becoming a professional musician they were there to remind me that I should trust myself at all times.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When my first band was about to get signed its first album deal I was also applying for veterinary school and got accepted, the producer who signed the band set a condition that if I went to vet school he wouldn’t sign the deal, that was the first time in my life that it clicked in my head that it’s an actual “all or nothing” and the commitment is real, it’s was a commitment to myself and to my friends to the band. I took about a week to think about it and all the advices I received was pushing towards studying vet but something in my gut feeling told me that I need to choose otherwise, it wasn’t easy and it took me some time until I made peace with the decision, but today, probably around 15 years later I’m so grateful for the choice of the commitment I made. I dropped vet school and signed the deal of my band Combine’s first record “For A Moment”.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Social media is the biggest bless and curse of our days. On one hand it creates amazing opportunities by the minute and on the other hand the amount of false information and people with zero experience who entitled themselves to be teachers, mentors, advisors, reporters and what not is ridiculous. It’s really confusing out there with no validation or verification.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I would hope they will tell that they were moved and inspired by my crafts, actions, dialogues, etc’.. More than anything I would hope they believed me and in me.
