Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tasha Funes of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Tasha Funes and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes, I’m extremely proud of myself for creating Elevate In Aviation. It’s a space I built for aviation professionals to come together, learn from each other, and grow in a real and honest way. I created it because I know how challenging this industry can be to navigate alone, and I wanted to bring people into a room where knowledge is shared openly and connections feel genuine. It goes beyond an event. It’s about mentorship, confidence, and raising the standard while reminding people that there’s room for all of us to succeed. Seeing it come to life and watching others walk away inspired made every bit of effort worth it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tasha Funes, a corporate flight attendant, aviation consultant, and the founder of Exclusive InFlight. Aviation has shaped so much of who I am, and after more than a decade in the industry, I’ve made it my mission to help others step into it with confidence, skill, and purpose. My work blends luxury in-flight service, mentorship, and professional development, all rooted in real experience from the cabin to the consulting side.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was realizing that I didn’t have to wait for permission to create my own path. Growing up, I was always drawn to travel, people, and new experiences, but I didn’t always see a clear roadmap for how to turn that into a career. The moment I stepped into aviation and began carving out my own lane, I felt a shift. It wasn’t just about flying, it was about realizing that my voice, my work ethic, and my vision had value.

That feeling has stayed with me throughout my journey. Those early influences taught me resilience, independence, and the courage to build something meaningful, even when the path wasn’t clearly laid out.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Some of the most defining challenges in my life have come from working in an industry that can feel demanding and constantly shifting. Aviation may look glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes it requires strength, adaptability, and a deep sense of self-belief. There were times when I had to start over, redefine my direction, or stand firm in my value when certain opportunities didn’t align with who I was becoming. Those experiences pushed me to grow, speak up for myself, and stay grounded in my purpose.

Healing has come through creating, building, and giving back to my community. I learned to channel difficult moments into something meaningful by mentoring others and creating spaces where people feel supported and seen.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that loyalty, growth, and good energy matter most to me. I’m someone who truly values bringing people together, whether it’s through aviation, mentorship, or just creating spaces where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. I love seeing people step into their confidence and celebrate who they are, and that’s something I carry into everything I do.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who led with compassion and poured genuine care into everything I touched. Not just through the work I created, but through the way I made people feel. I want my story to reflect a life that encouraged others to step into their purpose, to believe in their voice, and to know they belonged in the spaces they dreamed of.

More than titles or accolades, I want my legacy to reflect impact, vision, and presence. That I led with confidence, stood firm in who I am, and created experiences that people felt long after the moment passed. I showed up with purpose, moved with intention, and left every space stronger than I found it.
