From Asking for a Shot to Owning the Stage

Between a full record with Rockie Fresh and a debut at SXSW, D2BLEE isn’t claiming arrival—he’s stepping into acceleration, building a foundation defined by discipline, deeper storytelling, and a vision that’s only getting bigger.

D2BLEE, you just performed at Yours Truly Festival after reaching out to Phora years ago when you were just starting out — can you walk us through that full-circle moment and what it represents for you now?
That moment meant everything to me. In 2022, I was just a kid with ambition and a vision, reaching out to Phora hoping for a shot to open one of his shows. I didn’t have the résumé or the leverage — just belief and work ethic. Fast forward to February 21, 2026, performing at Yours Truly Festival in Las Vegas, curated by him, it felt like God confirming that consistency beats timing.

Standing on that stage wasn’t just about the performance — it represented growth, resilience, and staying locked in even when doors don’t open immediately. It showed me that if you keep building, eventually the rooms you once asked to enter start opening naturally.

How did it feel collaborating on a full record with Rockie Fresh, someone you admired long before your music career took off?
That collaboration was surreal. I grew up listening to Rockie Fresh in high school, going to shows, studying his style and his independent grind. To go from being in the crowd to being on a full record with him is something I don’t take lightly.

It validated the years I spent sharpening my craft. It also reminded me that the artists you look up to can one day become your peers if you stay consistent and elevate your level. That experience gave me confidence — not just as a fan who made it, but as an artist who belongs in those conversations.

You’re also making your SXSW debut this year — why does that milestone feel important at this stage of your journey?
SXSW feels important because it’s a gateway moment. It’s one thing to build locally and regionally — it’s another to step into a global creative environment where industry leaders, tastemakers, and artists from everywhere come together.

At this stage, it represents expansion. I’ve built the foundation. Now it’s about stepping onto bigger platforms and showing that the growth isn’t accidental — it’s intentional.

Looking back at your growth from 2023 to now, what do you think persistence has taught you most about yourself as an artist?
Persistence taught me that I’m more disciplined than I realized. Motivation fades. Hype fades. But discipline and faith don’t.

I’ve learned that rejection isn’t a dead end — it’s just redirection or preparation. The biggest thing is understanding that success doesn’t always move at the speed you want, but it always responds to consistency.

With all of these moments happening close together, how would you describe this current season of your career and where you’re headed next?
This season feels like alignment. It feels like seeds I planted years ago are finally breaking through the surface. But I don’t see it as “arrival” — I see it as acceleration.

I’m stepping into rooms with more confidence, more clarity, and a stronger sense of identity. Next, it’s about scaling — more stages, stronger releases, deeper storytelling, and building something that lasts beyond moments.

This isn’t the peak. It’s the foundation of something much bigger.
