An Inspired Chat with Niobe Alexandra of Nomadic

We recently had the chance to connect with Niobe Alexandra and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Niobe, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, a lot of my joy has come from slowing down and being more present. I have been intentionally stepping away from constant screen time and making space for quieter moments; spending more time in nature, noticing my surroundings, and reconnecting with creating things with my hands. Whether it’s walking, making, or simply being offline for a while, it’s been really grounding and has helped me feel more balanced, creative, and clear-headed.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Niobe, the founder and creative director of Studio Kynd, a considered design studio working with thoughtful founders to build brands rooted in intention, story, and alignment. My work sits at the intersection of strategy and emotion shaping identities that don’t just look beautiful, but feel grounded, human, and quietly magnetic.

My path into design wasn’t linear. I began my career in healthcare before teaching myself design and slowly building Studio Kynd alongside years of travel, curiosity, and creative exploration. That background deeply informs how I work today with care, patience, and a belief that good design should support people, not overwhelm them.

What makes Studio Kynd different is our pace and approach. We slow things down, we ask deeper questions and we treat branding not as a quick visual exercise, but as something lived and embodied, a foundation founders can return to as their business grows and evolves.

Right now, I’m focused on refining Studio Kynd’s offerings for 2026, creating more educational resources for designers and founders, and continuing to explore how creativity, rest, and intention can coexist with sustainable business growth.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world tried to define me, I was an adventurer. As a little girl, my favourite question was always “Where are we going today?”, I was endlessly curious, restless in the best way, and drawn to movement, possibility, and the unknown.

I never felt comfortable conforming to traditional expectations. I did briefly experience a 9–5, but only for a short season while my leg was in a cast after an accident while travelling in Thailand. As soon as I could walk again, I returned to hospital shift work, because it offered something I valued deeply: freedom. The ability to shape my days, travel when I felt called, and live life on my own terms.

That sense of autonomy and adventure has never left me. It’s still at the core of who I am and it continues to guide how I live, create, and build my work today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her that none of what she went through was her fault and that the strength she had to develop so early would one day become her greatest gift. I’d remind her that she didn’t need to be quieter, smaller, or tougher to be worthy of love. One day, she would build a life that feels safe, expansive, and her own.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
That rest is not a reward, but a requirement, that my body holds wisdom my mind can’t always access and that a life built slowly, with care and intention, is not behind; it’s deeply aligned.

I’ve learned that I don’t need to prove my worth through constant output, nor explain my pace to anyone else. Kindness, presence, and integrity matter more to me than visibility or speed. When I listen closely to myself, to others, to the seasons I’m in, things tend to unfold exactly as they should.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
I’ve been dimming my own confidence. I carry a lot of self-doubt, and at times I’ve learned to pre-emptively shrink myself questioning my voice, downplaying my work, and holding back before the world ever asks me to. It’s a habit born from protection, not a lack of ability.

Lately, I’ve been learning to meet that doubt with kindness instead of criticism. To let myself be seen without needing to be perfect first. The light I’m reclaiming is self-trust, the belief that my voice, my pace, and the way I create are already enough.
