Jennifer Gable of West LA on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Jennifer Gable and have shared our conversation below.

Jennifer , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Writing. I love writing so much. It’s truly the best drug. I can get lost for hours at the WGA lounge or library just writing my scripts. I get lost in the stories. It’s so much fun. It’s like watching an interactive movie in my brain that I can control. It’s a great way to escape, and much better than doom scrolling on social media.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
If they weren’t already aware of me, I am a Headlining, viral Stand-Up Comedian. Her debut Special ‘6 Drink Minimum’ was recently released w/ Comedy Dynamics on Apple TV, Amazon Prime and can be seen on her YouTube channel. She was passed as funny on ‘Kill Tony’, on Sirius XM, and FunnyOrDie. She has opened for Bonnie McFarlane. Her 2nd Special ‘I Get Deja Vu Sometimes’ will be released soon. She is known for her joke writing, stage presence and does crowd work too. She can just seen performing at Improv, Laugh Factory, Haha, Westside Comedy, Flappers, Ice House & The Comedy Store. And started Headlining again in Arizona, San Diego, Kansas City, Dallas and soon Chicago. She wants to continue traveling for comedy more in the future.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Probably the relationship with my Mom. She brainwashed me everyday into believing I could achieve anything so it’s been programmed into my subconscious. That’s where all my confidence comes from. Everyone loves it. Haha. She meant everything but becoming a Comedian but it’s too late.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I think comedy and writing helps me heal all wounds. Life is hard for everyone. I heal by knowing I’m not alone thru shared experiences and stories shared on social media now. I turn negativity and transmute it into funny art most of the time. Laughter is very healing. I’m going to save my defining wounds for my memoir.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yup. LOL It seems exhausting having to wear a fake mask. I’m tired enough as it is.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I learned you can’t validate your existence on outside things or people. That’s where you can really get yourself into trouble. I’m not one to rely on other people’s validation. Thank god. You’re never going to make everyone happy as they say. The most talented people in the world have a ton of haters. In a weird way, the more fans, the more haters. It’s just part of success I realized.
