An Inspired Chat with Khristian Osuna

We recently had the chance to connect with Khristian Osuna and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Khristian, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
In a time when there are many struggles happening around the world, I think one that deserves to be highlighted is the struggle with belonging and accepting love.
Now more than ever, people are turning toward hate and isolation, but deep down, we all just want to be accepted, seen, and loved. It’s taboo to express that you’re struggling, but the reality is that vulnerability almost always brings people together. Take loss for instance, the pain of losing someone can feel like a weight holding you down. But what if you realized that everyone carries a similar weight, and some even heavier? Yet those same people are not only pushing forward, but encouraging you to push as well. That is what it’s all about: learning that while your weight may be heavy, we can sit together, help each other however we can, and watch things feel lighter and lighter with every shared experience, conversation, and moment of connection.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Khristian “Luci” Osuna. I am a costume designer and artist from Los Angeles with a strong passion for superheroes, comic books, and all things nerd! I have worked for and collaborated with well-known companies such as DC, Marvel, Netflix, Disney, Universal, and many more. I absolutely love creating and learning new techniques while sharpening my existing skills, always finding ways to improve as both an artist and a human being.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
This year, I was asked to be an official guest with my own booth to display my work at Los Angeles Comic Con 2025. From beginning to end, the entire experience had a massive effect on me that continues to this day. Between the amazing people I met and the joy I felt from connecting with so many creative and talented individuals, it was truly unforgettable.

I first attended LA Comic Con when I was about 15 years old, and I remember being incredibly inspired and excited to see all of the guests. To fast-forward almost ten years and be invited as a guest, standing where I once looked up to others, is nothing short of a blessing. It proved to me that if you chase your passions and goals, you really can achieve whatever you set your mind to.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. More times than I can count, it has felt like a lot of pressure and weight have built up in both my creative life and my everyday, working, and social life as well. This past year has given me many reasons to give up or change course; however, I’ve had the support of my wonderful family and amazing girlfriend to help me remember that I am made for the path I am on. I try to remind myself that the feeling of wanting to give up or take a break is a challenge and a test of how badly you want what you are setting out to achieve.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
There are many examples of characters who lead with character over power that I greatly admire. For this instance, I think a perfect example is my favorite comic team: the Green Lantern Corps. While there are many examples of this among both the intergalactic members and the Earth members, I believe that at their core each Lantern (maybe not Sinestro…) reflects the idea of leading with character rather than relying solely on power. Whether its Tomar-Re’s patience and positivity, John’s fortified mental strength, or even Kyle’s compassion and creativity – there is so much to be learned from these amazing space cops.

Although the Lanterns depend on willpower to stay powered up, there is an embedded ideology within each of them to lead with care, kindness, and a desire to help in any way they can. With this in mind, even the most diverse alien members still use their abilities to support one another, fight fear, and protect their individual sectors. I’ve always admired the Green Lantern Corps for SO many reasons, many of which I try to practice each day!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when I’m gone, people can look back on the things I’ve made or created and feel some kind of inspiration or spark within themselves. I’ve always believed that there is hidden potential in every person, and I’ve made it my life’s goal to help bring that out in fellow creatives, nerds, and people from all walks of life. I want to ensure that my life and legacy are rooted in service, something people can use to feel closer to one another and to help each other.
