Story & Lesson Highlights with Jessica Hudnall of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica Hudnall and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Jessica , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
There are several things I genuinely take pride in building privately, and one of the biggest is my character. I’ve grown in ways that aren’t always visible, especially in how I manage my emotions and protect my mindset. I’m incredibly proud of myself for the level of self-control and self-awareness I’ve developed.
This past year, in particular, tested me deeply. I faced trials, tribulations, and unforeseen challenges that pushed my emotions and character to their limits. While it wasn’t my first rodeo, it was a powerful reminder that growth isn’t easy — but it’s necessary. I truly believe that everything I GROW through is part of my purpose, preparing me to stand before others with authenticity and strength.
Through it all, I’ve learned that the journey shapes the message. And in becoming more grounded, resilient, and intentional, I’m able to show others what a real “HIDDEN GEM” looks like — refined through pressure, not broken by it.

Most importantly, I am deeply proud of myself for having the courage to turn my dreams into reality. From a young age, I felt it in my spirit that I was born for something greater. As I’ve matured, I’ve gained a clearer understanding of that calling and the responsibility that comes with it.
In the summer of 2025, quietly and intentionally, I entered a season of preparation for my very first provisional utility patent. Stepping into this space as a business owner developing an AI-powered breast pump has been both humbling and empowering. I truly believe God created me to be a change maker, and this innovation is a reflection of that purpose.
With this invention, my goal is to impact mothers across the globe — to encourage breastfeeding, to provide emotional and physical support during the postnatal and postpartum stages, and to shift the narrative around what modern motherhood care can look like. What I am building goes beyond a product; it’s about creating confidence, comfort, and community for mothers and their families. I believe this innovation will open doors, expand my vision, and help establish MOMZ “R” FUNNY2 as the true household name I’ve always known it was meant to be.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jessica A. Hudnall, creator and founder of MOMZ “R” FUNNY2, a multidimensional brand dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and celebrating mothers through culture, creativity, and innovation.

What started as a family clothing line for the culture grew into something much bigger — a movement. Today, MOMZ “R” FUNNY2 is a platform that blends fashion, storytelling, technology, and motivation to support women on every level of their journey.

I am a podcast host, content creator, published author, and women’s motivational coach, and I use each of these lanes to pour into women, share real stories, and bring humor and healing into everyday motherhood.

I’m also the proud inventor of a patented AI-powered breast pump, designed to transform the postpartum experience by giving mothers more comfort, confidence, and control. This innovation is a reflection of everything my brand stands for — empowerment, elevation, and evolution.

MOMZ “R” FUNNY2 is special because it’s rooted in real life. Real motherhood, real struggles, real laughs, and real growth. My brand is for the moms who do it all, feel it all, and deserve to be supported through it all.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my coaching program, releasing new cultural fashion drops, growing my community of moms, and preparing the next phase of my AI breast pump development. Everything I create is designed to inspire, shift mindsets, and remind women that their dreams are still valid — even in the middle of motherhood.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The wonderful individual who saw me before I saw myself was my favorite third grade teacher by the name of Ms.Bates, she loved me like her own child. She poured so much wisdom in me, her words of wisdom and encouragement still plays in my head as a reminder of how worthy I am, especially when I’m GROWING through challenges. When I first entered Ms. Bates class, I had some challenging moments, mostly due to my behavior. I’ve held in a lot of pent-up anger due to my childhood traumas, but Ms. Bates saw me through all the hurt and pain. It was like she was one of God‘s prophet’s who saw my future and knew that I could make something of myself in this world. For example when I would lash out and/or get into fights with other children, not only would she discipline me, but it’s how she disciplined me in love. Instead of having me write typical standards during recess, she would have me write in a journal of how I’m feeling for the day and it allowed me to express what exactly triggered my anger. She would tell me no matter what I’m going through that I am the only one that can be in control of my emotions; so she encouraged me to find something that I love doing and advise me to channel my emotions in other outlets. I expressed to her that my dream job is to be an actress so she gave me the nickname “Superstar.” I even witnessed her taking the initiative to find ways to incorporate theater into our lessons and that allow me to express myself in a manner that helped improve my behavior, which eventually lead me to be a better student in her class.

As time went on Ms. Bates and I relationship grew closer. I considered her like a grandmother. I could tell she loved me more than just being her student, she expressed to me that she saw her younger self in me. I will never forget the day that Ms. Bates took me and a few of my closed classmates on a shopping spree for the weekend. Obviously, she got our parents permission and on that day, she took us to Toys “R” Us to go shopping and allowed us to pick any toys we wanted then she took us out to eat to at Numero Uno Pizza then back to her place. She showed us her beautiful community condo where we were able to play, watch movies and just have so much fun and spend the day with her. From that day forward, I’ve cherished her for taking the time out to show how much she really cared about me.

Fast-forward years later, I had my first born daughter she had to be around 10 months to a year-old, we went to the nail shop that day and I ran into Ms.Bates. I was so happy to see her and catch up with her. She complimented me on how beautiful I grew up to be and how beautiful my baby girl is. I thanked her on how much she impacted my life in such an unforgettable way just by doing all the wonderful things she did as my teacher. I even praised her for being a huge impact on my decision to become a teacher, and yes I let her know that I was pursuing my acting career as well. Have y’all seen how young I look for my age? I got roles to book for days! So trust me when I say I will never give up on my acting career. In the midst of our conversation, she said that’s one of the many reason why she always wanted to be a teacher. She knew that her genuine love for children would make them upstanding individuals. I will forever be grateful for Ms. Bates being sent to me as a guardian Angel.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I’ve always believed that strength was about pushing through, even when it felt like everything inside was unraveling. There were moments when I masked my pain with humor, focusing on laughter and positivity to shield myself and others from the weight of my struggles. It wasn’t until I embraced vulnerability and authenticity that I truly began to heal and help others do the same. My journey has been about turning that hidden pain into a source of strength and empowerment, and that’s what fuels the heart of MOMZ “R” FUNNY2.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I firmly believe in the continuous development and improvement of myself, and I see it as an inevitable journey. In particular, with my AI-powered breast pump, I am determined to bring this innovative solution to life. I’m committed to doing everything within my power ethically and effectively to ensure that this innovation becomes a reality. This project is more than just a goal; it’s a passion and a promise to transform the postpartum experience for mothers everywhere.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as a woman who turned her pain into purpose, using every struggle as fuel for growth and empowerment. I want to be remembered as someone who brought laughter, peace, and joy into the lives of others, and who helped them become their best, truest selves. Above all, I hope my children my daughter Jayla and my son Jacob and our continued bloodline see me as a mother who showed them resilience, authenticity, and unwavering love. Ultimately, I want my legacy to be one of empowerment, inspiration, and the deep, enduring impact of a life lived with purpose and heart.
