Angela Wilbers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Angela, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently, I’ve had so many moments that made me feel proud, especially with my magickal clients. They’ve been sharing beautiful stories about how my readings, classes, magickal tea parties, and the necklaces I create have supported them on their spiritual journeys.
One moment that really touched me happened at a recent market. A woman approached me and shared that the necklace she bought from me last year helped her find the confidence she had been seeking. We talked about the next steps in her journey, and she chose a new necklace to support her as she continues on her path. It was such a powerful reminder of why I do this work.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Angela Wilbers, and I am the creator of Crystallized Heka. I am an eclectic witch with a strong foundation in ancient Egyptian traditions, and through tarot, runes, and tea leaf readings, I help people find clarity, connect with their spirit guides, and step into their higher selves.
A special part of my work is creating handcrafted Middle Ancient Egyptian spell necklaces. Each one is unique, made with hand-painted papyri, crystals, and intentional energy. They are more than jewelry; they are magical tools meant to support people on their journeys. I also create artwork of ancient Egyptian deities to help others connect visually and spiritually with the divine.
I host magical tea parties that blend fun, community, and intuitive messages through tea leaf readings. Each event has its own theme and creates a meaningful experience for everyone who attends.
In my classes and one-on-one work, I act as a guide, helping people build spiritual practices that feel true to them. At the heart of everything I do is the intention to inspire, uplift, and empower others on their spiritual path.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
A part of myself that has served its purpose and now needs to be released is my habit of people pleasing, especially the kind that comes from working in customer service for so many years. I’ve always gone above and beyond to create meaningful experiences for others, but I’ve learned that no matter how much effort I put in, not everyone will be satisfied. People will have different expectations of me, and I cannot control that.
For a long time, I tried to adjust and please everyone to the highest degree, but it became clear that this was impossible and draining. I am releasing the pressure to meet impossible expectations. I will always give my best and offer beautiful, thoughtful experiences to my clients, but I am letting go of the belief that I must give the sun, moon, and earth to be worthy. What I can offer from the heart is enough.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
A time I almost gave up was when I first moved to California in 2011. I came here to pursue my dream of working in the film and television industry, a dream I had carried since eighth grade. I had just graduated with my degree in Applied Science for Movie and Television, and I was ready to break into the industry. I moved into a house that seemed safe and affordable, especially since a few people from my college were already living there.
But only a month after moving in, everything collapsed. One night, after coming home from working background on a major TV show, I went to bed and woke up to police officers pounding on the door. They told us to get out immediately. The man renting the rooms had been scamming everyone, taking our money while not paying the mortgage. The locks were being changed, and I had minutes to grab whatever I could. I lost things in the chaos, loaded what I had into my car, and drove to a nearby grocery store parking lot. That’s where I sat, exhausted and terrified, wondering if I should just move back home and give up on my dream.
I called my loved ones, unsure of what to do. I ended up checking into an extended stay hotel while I figured out my next steps. What kept me going was the encouragement from my mother, who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. But in that parking lot, I truly felt like giving up. I had worked so hard, and within a month everything had fallen apart. I was suddenly facing the possibility of sleeping in my car, something I never imagined would happen.
But the universe aligned, and I eventually found a new place to live. Looking back, that moment tested me, but it also shaped me. If I had given up then, I never would have discovered the path I’m on now. That experience pushed me toward the spiritual work I love today, and it helped me become the person I am meant to be.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project I am deeply committed to, no matter how long it takes, is creating a magical world for spiritual people, similar to how Walt Disney created immersive worlds of wonder. I have always dreamed of building a place where people can step into an environment filled with enchantment, connection, and spiritual discovery, almost like a Disneyland for the soul.
Right now, I am still in the early stages of learning and growing, but my magickal tea parties have shown me how powerful these experiences can be. They are the first stepping stones toward that larger vision. No matter how long the journey is, I am committed to creating a world where people can explore, heal, and experience magic in a way that feels unforgettable.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I’ve been thinking a lot about what people might say about me when I’m gone. I hope the story they tell is that I was kind, loving, and good-natured. I hope they remember that I touched their lives in a meaningful way and that the love I offered was felt and valued. More than anything, I hope people say I made their world a little brighter while I was here.
