Katie Enright of Newport Beach, CA on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Katie Enright. Check out our conversation below.

Katie, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most surprising thing I’ve learned from our customers is how openly people want to talk about intimacy when they feel safe to do so. I expected a lot more hesitation or embarrassment, but instead there’s this incredible honesty that comes through when someone feels seen and not judged. It’s shown me that people are craving real conversations about pleasure, health, and connection; they just need someone to start the dialogue in a way that feels inviting and human.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Katie Enright, the founder and CEO of Lavinia, a California-based brand redefining sexual wellness through cannabis. I first started incorporating cannabis before training for my second marathon. During my first, I injured myself pretty badly and was determined not to go through that again. As I started researching recovery and healing, I discovered cannabis balms and how effective they were in helping my body recover. That experience opened the door for me to learn more about cannabis, how it’s a vasodilator that increases blood flow and can enhance sexual experiences as well.
Initially, I just wanted to be a consumer, but after visiting dispensaries, I realized that a brand like this didn’t exist. That realization inspired me to create Lavinia, a company built around wellness, pleasure, and connection. Our products, like cannabis lubricants, lube launchers, and sex and sleep gummies, are designed to help people feel more comfortable in their bodies and more confident in their intimate experiences. What makes Lavinia unique is the way we bring honesty, elegance, and fun into the conversation about pleasure.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I’m very lucky. I’m the sixth of seven children and come from a long line of entrepreneurs, so starting a company or being an entrepreneur was something that always felt natural to me. I grew up watching my dad build his business and seeing several of my siblings do the same, and that gave me both the confidence and the curiosity to create something of my own. Watching their persistence, creativity, and ability to turn ideas into reality taught me more about work than anything else ever could.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self, I’d remind her that she’s capable of more than she realizes. Every challenge will teach her something valuable, even when it doesn’t make sense in the moment. I’d tell her to take more risks, to be proud of her ambition, and to never let fear of failure hold her back. The things that feel hard now are building the strength, resilience, and clarity she’ll need to create something truly meaningful later.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Some truths that feel foundational to my life, the kind that I rarely say out loud, are that faith always guides me, love is the reason behind almost everything I do, and kindness is never wasted. I believe deeply that hard work matters, but only when it’s aligned with purpose. I’ve learned that joy and peace are choices you make every day, and that gratitude changes everything. At my core, I know that connection to people, to faith, and to myself is what gives life meaning.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I could. I’ve learned that real fulfillment comes from knowing I gave something my best, not from external validation. Praise fades, but integrity and pride in your own work stay with you. When you do something wholeheartedly, even in silence, it builds a sense of strength and purpose that no amount of applause can replace.
