We’re looking forward to introducing you to Veronica Ariza. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My family. When I’m not working I’m spending every minute with my son and husband. Alongside being a small business owner, being a mom has been my greatest blessing. I cherish every moment I have with my son. He’s the reason I started my small business.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Veronica, Roni for short. Thats where my brand’s name comes from my nickname and first name. My shop name is RoniVeesBoutique. I started my business in 2011. I started my business so I could make extra money to support my son whom was almost 2 at the time. I’ve always had a passion for drawing and crafting but never did I plan to do this full time. I went from going to college and working 3 jobs to having to drop out of college and only keep one job due to not having a babysitter. Times were rough and I knew I needed to find a way to make money while still being a stay home mom. So I applied for a credit card and used that for supplies. I started creating and posting on craigslist, facebook and etsy. To my surprise it worked. I started getting orders every week, enough to support my son, Later down the line I got a full time job once he got a little bit older. Then covid happened and I got let go, which allowed me to fully focus on my business. Since covid I have not had to work again. It has been such a blessing all thanks to my customers and supporters. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a pure, honest, curious, bold, emotional, and creative person. I dreamt without limits. I always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. I thought I had my whole life planned out when I was in high school. Little did I know that my plans would change when I met the love of my life when I was 17. When I was in college, I got pregnant. Our son, our greatest blessing. I am still the same person but now I put my child first, I make sure he’s well taken care of and cared for before I want to make my dreams come true.
An entrepreneur, an artist, and a mother is whom I was always destined to be.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I wish you knew back then how strong you truly were. You carried so much alone, trying to make everyone happy while forgetting about yourself, and none of that was your fault. You deserved gentleness, softness, and patience long before anyone ever gave it to you. I want you to know that the things you thought made you ”too much” or ”not enough” were actually the things that would make you powerful one day. You grow into someone wiser, braver, and more loving than you ever imagined. And I’m proud of you for surviving the moments you never talked about. You were always worthy, even when you didn’t feel it.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire people who move through the world with kindness even when life isn’t kind to them. The ones who stay humble, who listen, who show up for others without needing the spotlight. I admire people whose strength is quiet, the kind that comes from surviving, healing and still choosing compassion,
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I lived with heart. That I was someone who turned my pain into purpose, my creativity into magic, and my love into something that made others feel seen, I hope they remember that I showed up for my family, for my friends, for my community, and for the people who connected with my art. That I didn’t just build a brand, I built moments… little pieces of comfort, nostalgia, spooky joy, and honesty that made people feel less alone. I want my legacy to be that I was real, imperfect, evolving, but always trying. I gave more love than I received, and somehow still kept finding ways to shine. And most of all, that my presence made the world a little softer and a little braver for the people who crossed my path,
