Ivelin Giro of Los Angeles. on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ivelin Giro. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ivelin, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
After completing my memoir, which is set to be released next year, I felt inspired to continue exploring new forms of storytelling. The book captures the magic and the madness of the 1990s fashion world, interwoven with the Cuba I knew during those same years. It’s a deeply personal journey about identity, transformation, and what it means to live between two completely different worlds.

That creative momentum led me to write a feature film with Fabian Cardenas, director of “Mambochella.” documentary that, together with executive producer Adeline Ferro, earned us two Emmy Awards for our work—an experience that still feels almost surreal to me.

Looking back, I could have never imagined reaching these milestones. I’m proud of my discipline, my passion, and the courage it took to move beyond fear and self-doubt. This journey has taught me that true freedom begins the moment you trust your voice and create fearlessly from the heart.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I m an actress, supermodel, designer, producer, and writer—an artist who’s always searching for meaning through creation. I feel a deep need to stay curious, to keep learning, and to engage with projects that challenge me both intellectually and emotionally.

I’m currently immersed in the production of the film I wrote alongside director Fabian Cardenas. It’s a dark comedy and a powerful story that explores music, dance, Cuban history, identity, and resilience. Bringing it to life has been a transformative experience, and I’m proud of what we have built together. All I will say for now is—expect rhythm, laughter, and a touch of mambo magic.

As for my acting work, I recently played Sonia Brito, a psychologist, in the film “Niños de Cristo,” written and produced by Kiki Meléndez, set to be released next year. I also had the honor of portraying Miriam, the sister of Moses, in “Moses, Zipporah and the Ten Commandments”, produced by VIP2000TV—a visually stunning piece filmed vertically with an incredibly talented team. Each project teaches me something new about humanity, art, and my own creative evolution.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My first acting teacher, Alejandro Lugo, instilled in me a deep respect for the craft and for everyone I work with. He taught me the true meaning of discipline, punctuality, and preparation — values that go far beyond the stage or the set. Thanks to him, I learned to always give my very best, not only in every performance but in everything I do in life.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
There is not success without suffering!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Acting and writing are my passions, and I’m fully committed to it. What I love most is that age doesn’t define an actor or a writer —the thing that truly matters is the story, the role and how deeply we make it come alive. I am constantly preparing myself for the next challenge, ready to dive into any character, any story with heart, courage, and authenticity.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I would truly regret not spending enough time with my children, my family and my friends. No success or achievement could ever replace those moments.
