An Inspired Chat with Rosecrans Ejaye of Hawthorne

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rosecrans Ejaye. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Rosecrans, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing freedom — real freedom. The kind that comes from ownership, peace of mind, and purpose. I’m not chasing validation or fame; I’m chasing the version of myself that breaks every cycle I was born into. Everything I’m building — my music, my brand, my message — is about showing people that where you start doesn’t define where you finish.

If I stopped, everything I stand for would lose meaning. I made it through things that should’ve broken me — foster care, homelessness, losing everything — and I refuse to let that pain go to waste. I’m doing this for my daughter, my city, and anyone who’s ever been counted out. Stopping isn’t an option, because my purpose is bigger than me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rosecrans Ejaye — artist, creator, and founder of RichOffRosecrans LLC, a movement built on ownership, authenticity, and legacy. I represent the city of Hawthorne, California, and I call my sound Street Soul — a blend of real-life pain, growth, and ambition.

RichOffRosecrans isn’t just a brand — it’s a mindset. It’s about turning struggle into strength and building something out of nothing. Every song, every design, every move I make is rooted in purpose. I came from foster care, homelessness, and hardship, but I turned that pain into art, fashion, and opportunity.

Today, I’m focused on expanding the RichOffRosecrans brand globally through music, clothing, and storytelling — showing the next generation that independence is power and your story is your gold.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was just a kid with a big heart and bigger dreams. I didn’t have much, but I had vision — I always felt like I was meant for something greater, even when my surroundings didn’t reflect it.

Growing up in foster care and the streets of Hawthorne, I learned early how cold the world can be. But I also learned how powerful resilience is. Before labels, pain, and expectations, I was just me — creative, curious, and full of hope.

That same kid still lives inside me. I just turned his pain into purpose and gave his dream a name: Rosecrans Ejaye.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self, “You were never the problem — you were the lesson.”

Every time life broke you, it was building you. Every door that closed was pushing you toward your purpose. You didn’t go through all that pain to stay the same; you went through it to wake up the greatness inside you.

Don’t ever lose that spark, no matter who doubts you. You’re not crazy for dreaming big — you’re chosen for it. Keep your faith strong, your circle small, and your energy pure. One day, everything that hurt you will become the reason people love you.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is real — it’s just not the whole story. What people see is confidence, ambition, and hustle, but behind that is years of pain, rebuilding, and self-discovery.

I don’t fake anything I say or do; I just don’t always show the scars that built me. The music, the fashion, the movement — that’s all real emotion turned into art. I’m not trying to play a role; I’m living my purpose.

The real me is still healing, still growing, but he’s focused, grateful, and solid. So yeah — what you see is real. It’s just layered with everything I had to survive to become who I am today.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I never gave up — that I turned pain into purpose and built something bigger than myself. I want them to remember that I stayed solid, stayed true, and never let the world change my heart.

I want my name to remind people that you can come from the bottom, face everything designed to break you, and still rise higher than anyone expected. That I stood for independence, ownership, and truth.

My story isn’t about fame — it’s about freedom. When I’m gone, I want people to look at what I built and say, “He made his own lane and left the door open for others to walk through.”
