An Inspired Chat with Heather Perren of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Heather Perren and have shared our conversation below.

Heather, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My days kick off at 5 a.m. with a Lagree workout, sometimes on one of my Lagree machines at home doing a Lagreeing at Home class, or heading to a local Lagree studio. After that, I take my teenage triplets to school and then teach Lagree privates, both virtually and in person. Late morning, I’m off to Lagree Headquarters, where I’ve been the Director of Community Relations and Events since 2020. I usually wrap up around 3:30 to pick up the kids, work on my other business, Lagreeing at Home, and get dinner going. We like to end the night playing Rummikub together as a family, and honestly, a perfect end to the day for me means I’m in bed by 8:30!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Heather Perren, Senior Master Trainer for Lagree Fitness, Co-Founder of Lagreeing at Home, and Director of Events and Community Relations for Lagree Fitness. My professional journey actually started as a first grade teacher, but after having kids, I stayed at home. I discovered Lagree in 2010 and I knew I’d found a new passion to pursue. I became certified in 2015, and that decision completely transformed my career and life.

In 2020, when the world went virtual, I co-founded Lagreeing at Home, the very first online Lagree platform designed to bring the signature Lagree burn into people’s homes. What started as a small idea to keep our community connected has now grown into a thriving platform offering thousands of on-demand and live classes, along with an incredible global community of members who share the same love for the method.

Alongside my work on Lagreeing at Home, I lead events and community initiatives for Lagree Fitness, helping connect trainers and enthusiasts around the world. Whether I’m organizing summits, mentoring instructors, or teaching, my goal is always the same—to help others feel stronger, more confident, and more connected through Lagree. And at home, my husband and I are proud parents to our incredible teenage triplets and our two dogs!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think what breaks the bonds between people most often is a lack of communication and empathy. It happens when we get caught up in our own worlds, stop listening, or start making assumptions instead of asking questions. Life moves fast, and sometimes it’s easier to retreat than to make the time, but that’s usually when the disconnect begins.

For me, especially as someone who juggles multiple roles, a mom of teenage triplets, a business owner, global Master Trainer and part of a worldwide fitness community, I’ve learned how easy it is to drift apart when you’re spread thin. Bonds break when we stop being intentional about showing up for each other.

What restores them is vulnerability and effort. It’s about being willing to apologize, to say, “I miss you,” or “I should have reached out.” It’s those small moments that rebuild trust. Connection takes energy, but it’s always worth it. Whether it’s with family, friends, or my Lagree community, I’ve found that the more open and human we allow ourselves to be, the stronger those bonds become.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. There was a time I almost walked away from Lagree completely. A few years ago, I was in talks to buy a Lagree studio as it felt like the right thing to do in that moment. I had poured my energy, time, and heart into the studio and wanted to make it happen, only to have it sold behind my back. I was devastated. I felt completely defeated and questioned everything, my path, my purpose, and whether I even wanted to stay in the fitness world.

Then, just two weeks later, the world shut down. At the time, it felt like everything was falling apart, but looking back, it was actually the moment everything began to realign. That unexpected turn pushed me to co-found Lagreeing at Home, which not only reignited my passion for Lagree but allowed me to reach and connect with people all over the world. This then allowed me to connect with Sebastien Lagree, the founder of Lagree, which allowed me to start working with him at Lagree HQ and it would be a few months later he would ask me to be Senior Master Trainer. This was just the beginning.

It taught me that sometimes the moments that feel like the biggest setbacks are actually redirections toward something better. I didn’t see it then, but losing that studio was the best thing that could have happened, it gave me the space to create something even more meaningful.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family! My closest friends would definitely say that family means everything to me. No matter how busy life gets with work, events, or travel, my family always comes first. I’m a mom of teenage triplets, and they’re truly the heart of everything I do, as is my husband of almost 20 years. Every decision I make, whether it’s in business or in life, somehow ties back to them. We also spend every Sunday evening at my parents’ house with my brother and the dogs, having dinner together. It’s an important tradition that reminds all of us how valuable family time is, no matter how busy life gets.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, absolutely. I’ve always believed in giving my best, whether anyone notices or not. It’s just who I am. I don’t do things for praise or recognition, I do them because I take pride in the effort itself. I guess that’s the perfectionist in me; I’m wired to give 110% in everything I do. Whether it’s work, family, or personal goals, I always want to exceed expectations and leave things better than I found them.
