Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Aashiyana Patel of Los Angeles

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Aashiyana Patel. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Aashiyana, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Currently, a normal day for me starts with getting ready for my classes. My schedule varies depending on the day, but I’m usually finished around 5 p.m. Even with a busy routine, I always try to make time for writing. Whether it’s two lines or ten, I make sure to get some lyrics written down each day. It’s something that keeps me connected to my creativity and helps me stay grounded. Writing daily, no matter how small, reminds me why I love making music and keeps that artistic spark alive.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Aashiyana, a singer-songwriter who loves turning personal experiences into music that people can connect with. My songs are inspired by real emotions and moments in my life, and I try to write in a way that feels honest and relatable. I’ve always believed that music has a unique power to make people feel understood, and that’s something I want to share through my work. Right now, I’m focusing on developing my sound and working on new music that really reflects who I am as an artist. Whether it’s through writing lyrics, recording demos, or performing, I want my music to tell stories that people can see themselves in. What makes my journey special is that it’s still unfolding. I’m constantly learning, growing, and finding new ways to express myself through sounds and words.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I’d say my parents saw me clearly before I ever really saw myself. They both believed in me from the very beginning and supported my love for music in every way they could. My mom especially had this amazing way of seeing parts of me that I didn’t even recognize yet. She saw my creativity, my passion, and how much music meant to me long before I fully understood it myself. She always encouraged me to embrace that part of who I am and to never be afraid to express it. My dad continues to be such a big source of strength and motivation for me. He reminds me every day to keep working on my music and to stay focused on what I love. I’m really thankful for both of them. My mom’s belief in me still inspires me, and my dad’s support keeps me grounded and determined. Together, they’ve shaped so much of who I am today, both as an artist and as a person.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that she made it. I would remind her that all those dreams she held onto, wanting to be a singer and create her own music, have come true. I would tell her to be proud because now she is making music she loves and people all over the world are listening to it and connecting with it. I would also tell her to trust herself more along the way, to be patient with the process, and to remember that every step, every struggle, and every small victory was part of building the artist she has become. Most importantly, I would tell her to keep believing in her own voice because it is worth sharing and it has the power to touch others in ways she could never imagine.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One truth that has always been foundational for me is that everything happens for a reason, even if I do not understand it in the moment. I really believe that every experience, good or bad, teaches me something and shapes who I am. Another truth I hold close is that honesty and emotion are the heart of everything I create. Music has always been my way of expressing what words sometimes cannot, and I think staying true to that honesty is what keeps me grounded. I also believe deeply in gratitude. No matter how much I grow or how far I go, I never want to lose sight of how lucky I am to do something I love. Remembering to be thankful for the people who support me, the moments that inspire me, and the lessons I learn along the way keeps me humble and motivated. Those truths have guided me quietly for as long as I can remember, even if I do not always say them out loud.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am creating music. There is something really grounding about being alone with my thoughts and turning them into melodies or lyrics. It is the one place where I can be completely honest with myself and let everything else fade into the background. I also feel at peace when I am listening back to something I have written and realizing that it came from a real emotion or experience. It is like a reminder that I can take anything I feel and turn it into something meaningful. I also find peace in simple moments, like going to the beach and just listening to the waves. Some of my best music and lyrics have actually been written there. Those moments help me slow down, reconnect with myself, and often inspire my most honest and creative work. No matter what, music is always the space where I feel the most calm, present, and truly myself.
