Yuvraj Singh shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Yuvraj, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When I’m working on a sound, whether it’s creating a new sound for my songs or mixing a film, I completely lose track of time. There’s something about the journey where the textures, the space, and emotion all come together and everything just clicks. Those moments remind why I started doing this in the first place.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Yuvraj Singh, also known as CurioCity. I’m a music producer, sound designer, and audio engineer based in Santa Monica. I work across music, film, and video games, creating sounds that tell stories and bring visuals to life. What makes my work special is how I blend modern electronic elements with different genres of music together. I like building textures that feel emotional, detailed, and alive.
Right now, I’m working on projects that mix ambient and electronic sounds, along with film and game audio that lets me experiment with space and emotion. My goal has always been to make sound feel like an experience, something that pulls you in without you even realizing it.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was just a kid who loved sounds. I used to record random noises, experiment with them, and turn them into something new. I didn’t care how it was supposed to sound or if it made sense. I just followed curiosity. That part of me still shows up whenever I start a new project. Over time I realized that the more I tried to fit in, the less creative I felt. So now I try to stay connected to that version of me who wasn’t overthinking, just creating.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t need to have it all figured out right away. Just keep creating, keep learning, and trust that the work will lead you where you need to go. The moments that feel uncertain now are the ones that will shape your sound and your voice later. Be patient with yourself. You’re doing better than you think.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Although I’m not a very spiritual person, I’ve started to believe that opportunities come when I’m not fixated on the outcome. I’ve noticed that when I want something too badly, it rarely happens, but when I let go and focus on the process, things start falling into place naturally. This pattern has repeated enough times to make me believe there’s real power in detachment. I also believe that the universe has its own kind of consciousness, and that everything happens for a reason, even if we can’t always see it in the moment.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I think I could. For me, doing my best has never really been about validation. When I’m creating or mixing, I get lost in the process itself. That feeling of being fully present is the reward. Of course, appreciation feels nice, but even without it, I’d still keep going. The satisfaction comes from knowing that I gave everything I had to something I care about.
