We’re looking forward to introducing you to Caitlin Reyna. Check out our conversation below.
Caitlin , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
It’s hectic haha!
I wake up and get my kids ready for school. While getting them ready I am multitasking and going through my emails. Once the kids are in school, I have time to sit down and plan out my day with my to-do list. I’m old school and still use a paper agenda. I work on all the operations items till school pick up and after school activities. Once the kids are in bed, I work on the creative side of my business…planning new parties, ordering supplies, making bead kits, etc.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the founder of The Bauble Collective, a mobile jewelry-making company that brings the fun of creating jewelry to kids (and adults too)! I’ve been making jewelry since I was six, and now I get to share that passion by helping others design their own pieces at parties, events, and workshops. I provide all the supplies, beads, decor, and even the tables …all you have to do is show up and get creative!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
t all started with my mom’s friend Laura. She always encouraged me and praised my jewelry designs, often telling me that I should sell my pieces. As a kid, I was very shy and could not imagine trying to sell anything.
At my mom’s 50th birthday party, Laura asked if she could buy the necklace I was wearing. That became my first official sale and the moment I started to believe that I could turn my passion into a business.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are worthy. It’s so easy to think that you aren’t good enough, or that your dreams are too big to catch. The world and society kind of tell you that. You are supposed to go to college and get a big corporate job. Entrepreneurship is very hard and not always successful. However, that’s wrong. You can be anything you want to be. You can find success in what makes you happy, and not everyone is on the same journey. Focus on what your passion is, work hard, and allow failure. Everything will work out.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family. I believe that family should come first, and being there is the way you show your love the most. I hope my kids see this when they are older too. Family is everything and they will always be there for you.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I find that when I accomplish something, I then start chasing after a new goal right away. I try to force myself to celebrate before focusing on the next big thing. It’s hard sometimes. But my younger self would be very envious for everything I have now. I need to remind myself of this every now and again.
