Gabriel Smith of Los Angeles on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gabriel Smith. Check out our conversation below.

Gabriel, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
While all 3 characteristics are very valuable in an individual. Integrity is the most characteristic to me because I’m a individual with high integrity.
Intelligence and energy are vital but to have intelligence you have to learn and those experiences often derive from life experiences.
Moving with pure intentions and integrity naturally draws the right people and opportunities for growth because an individual with integrity can be trusted.
For me, it all starts with moving with pure intentions and integrity.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Peace & Blessings

I’m Gabriel “ The Definition “ Smith. Husband to the most beautiful First Lady on the planet Mera Smith. Father to 6 children Zyanne, Lauren, Gabriel Jr, Kennedy, Morgan and the next to arrive Amir Smith.
I’m known for my book “ The Definition “ which is a self help book based on events of my life which was published in 2017. I wrote the book while homeless and in the memo section of my iPhone. This garnered me a lucrative partnership with global giant GoDaddy.
I’m also a speaker, life coach and overall inspiration for those needing an example of perseverance. From homeless to living the life of my dreams!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I have to give that thanks to my wife Mera Smith.
I was homeless and living in a rooming house with 26 other people. Wrote and published my book a year prior to meeting her.
I was truly at my lowest point. Was back home on the East Coast for a month and decided I had to give California another try.
I willingly caught a one way flight to willingly become homeless because I knew I had to try! I know; funny but true. No place to live. Slept in a rental car until I found the rooming house.
GoDaddy started releasing content while I was homeless and all. I had a speaking engagement October 12, 2019.
I was contacted to my current wife for a potential sponsorship because she was a designer and owns House of Mera. A fashion powerhouse launched in Los Angeles, California.
She and I met for a quick 20 minute meeting that turned into the best 2 hours of my life! She sponsored me with clothing for the event and the rest is history.
I always thank her for seeing in me what I didn’t see in myself at the time. Im forever indebted to my wife for that because she was what I needed to get back up.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! When I was homeless and trying to see my vision to the end.
Being on a different coast from home. No family and no one to trust. I was faced with every kind of betrayal and struggle you could imagine.
I’m from the East Coast and on the West Coast trying to make it for the sake of my kids back home. Hit with everything I’m clueing the kitchen sink but I kept on going.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that Islam and my family are what matters to me the most.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
People would tell a story of a man that survived what most wouldn’t have to never give up.
A man that never was given a fair shot since a child but yet. He dusted off. Kept my vision in tact and walked down the blessings.
Not compromising my morals, integrity or values in the process.
