We’re looking forward to introducing you to Samantha Bailey. Check out our conversation below.
Samantha, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend San Diego Comic Con with the cast and team from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence and it was an amazing experience! Sitting on stage in front of the tomato lovers at our Saturday panel felt surreal. I was so proud of the work we had done to get to that point, and I know there is still much more ahead as we anticipate the premiere. That was not only my first Comic Con but also my first panel. Naturally, I was a little nervous going into it, but those nerves quickly disappeared when our amazing producer told us that the panel wouldn’t be a traditional Q&A… it would be structured like a game show. And that it was! The energy in the room was incredible, filled with laughter and excitement. We ended with doing an audience sing along to the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes theme song. It was a day I’ll never forget, and one that reminded me just how special it is to share this journey with such a talented and passionate team!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Samantha Bailey. I am an actress, model, dancer and social media influencer living in Los Angeles, California. I found my passion for acting when I was 4 1/2 years old and have loved it ever since! I am currently in post-production for a reboot of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence. The tomatoes are back, and I am so excited for everyone to see this one! I am also part of an all-female digital content collective, The Sorority Girlz where I collaborate with girls from all over the United States and Canada. It brings me joy sharing my talents and making an impact. I inspire to challenge myself and grow with every opportunity that comes my way! I hope to be a role model to younger generations that are aspiring actors and show them that anything is possible!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
There are so many people that have helped me grow throughout the years, it would be hard to name them all! I like to try to surround myself with people who are really passionate about working hard while still being true to themselves. Even before I started acting, my family has always been my biggest support system. I was homeschooled and I am very grateful for that opportunity. Then when I started going out for auditions and filming, they helped to guide me through all the hard work that goes into being a successful actor while still letting me be a kid and learn things on my own. My interest only grew from there as they encouraged me to follow my passions. Every moment was an opportunity to learn. Whether it was my mom or dad taking me to auditions and showing me that being 15 minutes early meant I was actually on time, or my grandma helping me be prepared by practicing my lines and knowing the character or show I was auditioning for. This all taught me that being an actor means more than just performing on stage or in front of a camera, a lot goes on before you even get to the “fun” part. They always reminded me to stay humble and never give up even when things get challenging. Because of their support and examples, I discovered that success in acting comes from putting in effort in everything every day and always believing in myself.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would remind myself not to be afraid to fail and never give up on your dreams. Every setback can be used as a lesson and used to better myself for the next challenge. I always strive to be the best version of me possible, but I know that it is perfectly ok to not be perfect or appear to be perfect all of the time. It can be fun to try new things and take risks. I have learned that in the industry I’m in, the things that I might see as imperfections or flaws could actually be what sets me apart from others. There isn’t really a clear way of fitting in, and I still have to remind myself that. Embracing your most authentic self and loving what makes you different. Success can be found in many ways, so I trust that with continued persistence and patience, my dreams are worth all it takes to achieve them.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the certainly a part of who I am but, as with any part of social media, you won’t always have the whole story in a picture. As some might say, social media is like our personal highlight reel. All of the good things and best parts of your life get posted while some of the more serious or challenging parts are only faced off-line. Given that, I would like to say that I try my best to be as realistic as possible when it comes to anything I share. I think both my public and personal versions are the “real” me, it’s just that one could be deemed more polished for the world’s eyes and the other is a bit more raw and unfiltered.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
There have absolutely been moments in my career when I’ve felt that level of excitement. The kind that makes me realize all my hard work has paid off getting to that point. That feeling usually comes after I have booked a role and show up to my first day on set. All the late nights memorizing scripts, going to acting classes, and filming self-tapes finally got me to the point where I can be on set doing what I love. It is a joy knowing that what I do matters and that it would be seen and recognized by audiences. Each set I am on is a learning opportunity and, while some days might be more challenging than others, it all pays off in the end. It is exciting being able to work together with a team of amazing creators on each project no matter if it is a short film, commercial, or full-length feature film.
