Story & Lesson Highlights with Kevin Garcia

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kevin Garcia. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Kevin, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
There are 2 things that I am most proud of building that nobody sees. 1 of those things is building a business that not only provides for me but for my family and others as well. Having the ability to build a business that can one day employ thousands of people and help them provide food on the table for their families is what inspires me to continue to grow and strive for greatness. It is very easy to get lost in the day to day operations, consistently worrying about sales and bringing in money that we can quickly forget the real reason why we are in business. Our clients are trusting us with their biggest asset, taking care of their roof system on their home.

The second thing that I am most proud of is the person/character that I am developing within myself along this journey. One of my favorite quotes is by Jim Ron “Set a Goal to Become a Millionaire, for What It Will Make of You to Achieve it”. This quote speaks volumes to me because when I first heard it, it really made me put life into perspective along with all of my goals that I would like to achieve. The idea behind this quote, is to set high goals and expectations for yourself, not for the financial gain but for the person you will need to become in order to achieve them. Setting high expectations and standards for yourself will lead you to standing in the rooms with others that share similar goals, allowing you to gain knowledge and develop skills that will help you excel in life and business. Overall, I am working towards becoming the best version of myself that is well equipped to run a successful business and provide a prestigious service to my clients.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kevin Garcia with Blue Skyline Roofing. I am the 3rd generation in our family roofing business. We’re a family-owned roofing company with humble beginnings and sky-high standards. Each generation of our family has passed down not only the tools of the trade but the values that define our work;honesty, dedication, and pride in every roof we install. What started as a small operation has grown into a trusted name across neighborhoods, businesses, and job sites throughout the region. Blue Skyline Roofing is where legacy meets modern excellence. What is unique about us is not just the services we provide but more importantly the knowledge we share with our clients. It’s one of our core belief systems to always educate our clients on what services their roof systems need and how they are beneficial to them. It’s easy for any ordinary roofer to tell a homeowner they need a new roof when it’s leaking, but what truly sets us apart is our commitment to honest education, empowering our clients to understand not only the reasons behind their roofing issues but also the full range of solutions available to them—for lasting value and peace of mind far beyond a quick repair.

Our services include new roof installations, roof replacements, roof and leak repairs, roof inspections, roof maintenance and more. We service both residential and commercial properties, and we specialize in all types of roof systems. Our list of clients include home owners, property managers, contractors, developers, architects, and many more. If you are looking for a trusted and reliable roofing company, give us a call!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up my father was very big on teaching me and my brother’s core life skills so when we got older we would know how to take care of ourselves. One of the most important life skills we learned was the importance of hard work and the different forms this comes in. My father worked a blue collar labor intensive job, growing up he would have us help around the house, help mow the grass, help clean the house, and even help do the oil change on his and my moms car. At the end of every day he would always remind us how it is our job to work hard and apply ourselves the best we can to everything we are doing, in our academics, our health, our jobs, etc.

This hard work ethic instilled in me early on, I carry today along my life long mission of becoming the best version of myself. There is never a day that passes by where I don’t remind myself of who truly taught me the true meaning of hard work.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me far more than success has ever taught me, and that’s because there is no success without failure. The only way you find success in life is by learning from your mistakes. This is evidenced by a famous quote by David Kelley, “Fail Faster. Succeed Sooner.” The truth is every successful person has achieved greatness by going through the process of learning from trial and error. If you live your life in fear of making the wrong decisions, you will never progress. Suffering has also taught me how to cherish the moments of victory that much more, because it makes you reflect on what it took to get there and what you can improve on.

I will end this section with one of my favorite quotes “Real humility is knowing that no matter how many people you beat… You will never be “better” than anybody else. Real humility is knowing that the results you’ve produced are a reflection of the actions you’ve taken… Not because you have some special talent or skill that nobody else has.” – Andy Frisella

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire an entrepreneur named Andy Frisella, he is the owner and founder of a company called 1st phorm and various other businesses. I admire him for his ideology of “personal excellence is the ultimate rebellion”. The idea behind this is striving to become the best version of yourself in all aspects of your life, in your health, your business, your relationships, etc, is the true life long mission. Becoming comfortable and complacent in life will only lead to your downfall, you need to always be striving to become better, that is what will keep you ahead in life. Do not let your foot off the gas when things are going well and when the rest of the world is in uncertainty, that is when you double down and work harder.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
It is my life long mission to build our family business into a legacy company that is recognized throughout the industry, providing clients with premium roofing services. This is a life long mission that can not simply be completed overnight or in a few years. There is always progress and improvement to be made no matter how successful we become.
