Whitney Sincoff of Sherman Oaks on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Whitney Sincoff and have shared our conversation below.

Whitney, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately I have been taking pilates classes and I love it. I practice at a studio in my neighborhood at least once a week. I feel great after pilates class and it’s a nice break in my day when I need to get out of the house and away from my office.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Sure! Hello! I’m the president and owner of Art Dimensions Inc. (ADI), an online, contemporary art leasing and sales business. ADI represents more than 85 exceptional artists and we deal with various media including painting, print, sculpture and photography. Leasing art is a fantastic way to start or add to an existing art collection, and with our lease-with-option-to-buy program, 60% of one’s rental fees goes towards the purchase of the art. ADI collaborates with homeowners, corporate clients, home stagers and production companies to create cool, sophisticated art collections for the home, office or tv show or feature film set. Last week I sold a work of art by one of ADI’s artists to the tv show, “The Rookie.” I am excited for “The Rookie” Season 8 to air so I can see the artwork on set.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my mom most shaped how I see myself. Sadly, my mom passed away many years ago, but the 27 years I did have with her left an indelible mark. We were very close when I was growing up, and through our relationship, I’ve learned how to have compassion for myself and others, how to express myself, and how to compromise and collaborate.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In January of 2020 I opened a gallery space in Studio City. Covid broke out in March of that same year. Although the space was great, I was unable to host openings and events at the gallery. Foot traffic was very limited at that time as well. Needless to say, it was a hard time for everyone. I closed the gallery one year later in 2021 as business was just not going well. I almost threw in the towel and closed the doors on Art Dimensions entirely. I’m so happy that I didn’t close the doors on ADI then, and love the work I am doing today including my podcast, “Beyond The Palette.”

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that being supportive and loyal matter a lot to me. I know how much I treasure these qualities in my friends and family, and I try to live by them as well.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am walking with my dogs. I love being in nature and I am so blessed to live in a beautiful neighborhood that is perfect for walking and hiking.
