Good morning Bhargav, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day usually follow a simple but enjoyable routine. I wake up in the morning and start with my usual cup of coffee, something I always look forward to. With that bit of energy, I sit down in front of my computer to practice guitar while also checking my emails. During this time, I also take a few moments to organize my thoughts and figure out the main tasks I need to focus on for the rest of the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Bhargav Choudhury, originally from Guwahati, India, and for the past nine years I’ve been living in Los Angeles, pursuing life as a full-time artist—a path I’m deeply proud of. I work as a guitarist and producer, and I also teach as an instructor at the world-renowned Musicians Institute. Beyond teaching, I pour my energy into my two primary bands, The Conscious Outlaws and Billy McNicol, as well as my production company, Stereo Sanctuary, where I write and produce music with a wide range of artists, including my own bands. Each of these projects carries its own unique voice and creative spirit, and I truly love the balance of teaching guitar, writing original music, and performing with the groups that inspire me.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
First of all, no one ever told me what I had to be—that was always a soulful decision I made for myself. From a very young age, I felt a deep appreciation for music, even though I went down the path of studying and eventually graduating with a degree in engineering. But as I gained more and more experience playing live gigs at colleges and venues, it became clear to me where my heart truly belonged. After completing my degree, I realized that music wasn’t just something I loved—it was the thing I wanted to dedicate my entire life to. That decision came naturally, almost like it had been waiting for me all along.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to trust the journey and never let go of the guitar, no matter what. The instrument will be your best friend, your voice, and your way of connecting with the world. Every hour you spend playing, even when it feels hard or uncertain, is shaping the artist you’re meant to become. Keep that love for music alive, because it will guide you, sustain you, and give your life a purpose that feels bigger than yourself.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
’m deeply committed to the projects with my bands as well as my production company, Stereo Sanctuary, no matter how long they take to grow and evolve. With my bands, the vision goes far beyond just making music—we’re building something meaningful, a sound and a message that connects with people on a deeper level. At the same time, through Stereo Sanctuary, I’m dedicated to creating a space where artists can come together to write, experiment, and bring unique ideas to life. Both of these paths are long-term commitments for me because they represent more than just career moves—they’re extensions of my passion, my creativity, and my belief in music as a lifelong journey.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m doing my thing—lost in my craft, whether that’s writing, producing, or practicing guitar—and surrounded by the people I love. There’s a quiet satisfaction that comes from shaping a melody or solving a arrangement problem, and that creative focus feels perfectly balanced when I can come home to family and friends who remind me why I do it. Those moments—equal parts work and warmth—are when I’m happiest, grounded, and exactly where I’m meant to be.
