Pam Scamardo shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Pam, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have you stood up for someone when it cost you something?
My children. It’s worth stepping away from the wealth to protect my children’s wellbeing and forming a new life together. It’s not easy to step away from a comfortable economic position that one has worked decades long for, however, true happiness and well being is not measured with dollar figures only. The light is brighter, the grass is greener, and seeing my children thrive in a new family dynamic makes it all worthwhile.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Entrepreneur Pam Scamardo is the Founder of The C.R.E.A.T.E Wealth Network – the #1 free educational resource for commercial real estate investing. Officially “retired”, Pam is a mother who discovered the benefits of passive income after realizing she did not need to be a millionaire to begin investing in commercial real estate. An aerospace engineer by trade, having been employed by Lockheed Martin, Boeing and UTC Aerospace, Pam made a career pivot over 10 years ago and founded her first company TPK Properties. The organization has successfully syndicated properties for investors in on the West Coast. She is passionate about helping others achieve “job optional” status through commercial real estate investing and wants to empower men and women along their journey to financial freedom. You can find her most recent published book, “Create Wealth: How You Can Ditch the 9-5 Job With Multifamily Investing”, on Amazon.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The old Pam who was formerly an Aerospace Engineer, who took an unconventional path to being job optional through real estate investing, building an empire for her family, must now be released. My current path is aligning with what the universal consciousness wants to bring forth through me, and right now the calling is to continue writing, speaking, and publishing.
The old Pam was a straight A student, worked hard to be on top and stay on top, and achieved insurmountable goals in a male-dominated environment. It’s now time to relax a bit, and pass the torch on to others, to show others the way that may not involve a grueling journey. Every soul has a purpose here on this playground called Earth and it’s my honor to help contribute to our collective success.
It’s time to purge old work habits and behaviors to make room for new improved habits that foster meaningful connections along the way.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I grew up in an immigrant family struggling to make ends meet. As a young kid watching my parents hustle, I saw firsthand what racism did to our communities and how our self worth can be defined incorrectly with wealth and how it could lead you astray.
Without those experiences and struggles in childhood, I never would have developed the grit, tenacity, and perseverance to stay focused on obtaining higher education to open more opportunities for generational wealth building. My parents are from the survival generation, they had to leave their roots and families behind to charter a new path in a new world where their socioeconomical status meant nothing here. If I had grown up without those struggles in helping my parents save money and getting out of the unhealthy environment to build a better future for our family, I don’t think I would be standing here today providing advice to my children and mentees/clients.
Currently, my divorce has been quite a teacher in humility and resilience. As I untangle from the wealth built from my own blood sweat and tears, I know that I can rebuild again and show my children how to grow and thrive successfully as an entrepreneur. Although wealth can be temporarily taken away, the brains of the operation cannot be taken away from me. It has helped me to realize the importance of being able to detach from material possessions, and rebuilding and contributing to our world in a whole new way. Re-inventing and transforming again and again through different phases in life teaches you that life is precious, and there is joy all around. We sometimes have to shed the old to make room for new and better opportunities. Have that abundance mindset and all the pieces do fall into alignment when our eyes are ready and open to see the magic happen.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
The need to be perfect. The need to be on top of it all. I was there too, and it’s all wrong. You learn the most when you stumble, fail, and fall. It’s HOW you choose to get up and dust yourself and continue on, is what really matters. It’s not about what you do, it’s how you do it.
Smart folks are focused on the tangible measurements of success when we need to also focus on the intangibles such as the following:
1. Having an abundance mindset. There’s plenty for everyone.
2. Business intuition. Listen to the your inner voice that can’t be explained through analytics. Trust yourself.
3. Compassion. This learned skill sets you apart from other leaders. Your clients/employees/colleagues will remember how you made them feel, not necessarily what you discussed/did with them.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light that has been telling me for a couple years to do what I’m meant to be doing in this lifetime. It’s scary because this light is telling me to do things that I was ran away from at a younger age, because I thought I wasn’t worthy or good enough to accomplish.
I’ve done the dance of doing what I’ve been expected to do. Now it’s time to shed my old self and emerge as a newly transformed way of being. The light that has been dimmed is about to increase and shine bright as I step into my new evolved path. This light is about being true to myself, being unapologetic while remaining kind to all. My goal is to connect with as many people as possible, to help give them hope and guide them however I can with my knowledge/skillset, through writing, speaking, and publishing.
