Hi Evan, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Genuinely create. I’ve spent WAY too much time imagining and fantasizing ideas and it’s time to get the EXTREMELY messy process of bringing them to life going.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone!
My name is Evan Camacho and I am an actor, writer, and creator. Also training to be an accountant (never hurts to know finance, especially in this day and age). I am currently designing my own IP for a new breed a superhero/supervillain. Will go more into detail later on.
I’m also shaping my brand as being and hard worker with a sense of humor with a strong touch of compassion. Show business is not for the feint of heart because you have to learn from everything.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Honestly what breaks the bonds between people is broken promises or lies and the horrendous excuses used to justify it. Restoring those bonds is extremely difficult to achieve. But the first step is 1 party has to reach out and at least try to get closure. That closure can become a reforged relationship or it can be the quiet end to a relationship that perhaps was never present to begin with.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
This is actually a recent discovery: it is falling in love with the idea of things and then dwelling on the fantasy rather than taking action to making it reality. I had always thought it was fear of failure. Throughout most of my early life, I was discouraged from taking risks or really trying unless I knew I was going to succeed. Examples: don’t get caught messing up or being rejected because that meant that there was something inherently wrong or inferior about me. Being an actor has hardened my resilience toward rejection and so I’m less nervous about trying new things. Sadly this became a sort of reverse nostalgia. Longing for what could or want to be and then being satisfied by the “I’ll get to it when I’m ready, for now let me just fantasize about the life I want”. If you can find a more addictive sedative to life than that – I would be very impressed.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Hugh Jackman has been my idol since high school. The guy can sing, dance, act, has the physique of a god, and most importantly, has been described as one of the kindest people in Hollywood. I’ve always admired him for his positive attitude, passion for performing, and that he seems to be a fun person to be around despite being a star. That is what I want people to remember me for. A kind person who’s fun to be around. I’m not quite there yet but progress.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Nope. I’ve never actually gotten what I wanted so I am genuinely curious about what it feels like to get it. Maybe it’ll be disappointing, but maybe, just maybe, it’ll actually be better than I imagine it.
