An Inspired Chat with Amy Muradyan

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amy Muradyan. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Amy, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred. I begin with a warm cup of coffee in hand, opening my Bible and spending time in prayer. It’s my way of centering myself—grounding my heart in gratitude, seeking wisdom, and aligning my spirit before the day truly begins. That quiet ritual is where I find peace and strength, and it carries me into everything that follows.

I also make space for self-care, whether it’s a moment of stillness, journaling, or simply taking time to breathe deeply and set my intentions for the day. Nurturing my spirit and my well-being allows me to show up more fully, both personally and professionally.

From there, I move into my favorite role—being a mother. I wake my children, help them get ready, and we head out for school drop-off. Those moments with them, full of laughter, conversation, and connection, remind me why I do what I do. By the time I return home to begin my workday, I feel grounded, refreshed, and inspired. My mornings are a blend of faith, self-care, and family—an intentional rhythm that gives me the clarity and creativity I need to pour into my clients and my work.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amy Muradyan, co-founder of BWC Event Design, where my business partner, Diane Bello, and I bring a deep love of design to life through bespoke celebrations that feel both timeless and imaginative. What makes our work unique is the way we blend artistry, storytelling, and detail into every event—whether it’s an intimate children’s party filled with whimsical touches or a grand wedding layered with luxury and meaning. At BWC, nothing is ever cookie-cutter; every design is created from the heart, and our clients trust us to capture their vision in ways that surprise and delight.

Alongside BWC, I also own The Palms Estate, a private 21,000 sq. ft. venue in Los Angeles, which has become a canvas for celebrations, photo shoots, and special gatherings. It’s a space designed to feel both elegant and personal—where memories are created and stories unfold. My other ventures include Petite Party Atelier, which offers themed party boxes and custom children’s experiences, and Mouseprint Books, where I’m pursuing a lifelong passion for writing and publishing children’s books inspired by my own family’s stories.

What ties all of this together is a love of beauty, creativity, and connection. I come from a background in accounting and finance, yet I’ve always felt called to design. Building these businesses has allowed me to merge both sides of myself—the structured and the creative—into something that brings joy not only to our clients but to me and my family as well. Right now, we’re excited to continue expanding our reach, sharing our designs in national and international publications, and creating products and stories that inspire families everywhere.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Two women saw me clearly before I could fully see myself—my grandmother and my mother.

My grandmother, Artemis, has always been a beacon of creativity. She is a gifted poet, a wonderfully inventive cook, and a woman whose artistry is always centered around family. Some of my earliest memories are standing on a little stool beside her in the kitchen, learning not just recipes but the joy of creating with love and sharing it with others. Even now, she continues to inspire me with her writing, cooking, and her zest for life.

My mother, Peggy, also had a profound impact on me. She has an impeccable eye for design, and from the time I was young, we were always creating together. We landscaped gardens, redecorated our home, rearranged furniture, and even remodeled spaces for family and friends. Those projects with her instilled in me not only a love of design but also the belief that creativity could be a way of life.

Both of them poured their gifts into me before I even knew how to name my own. Their influence is woven into everything I do today—whether I’m designing events, curating spaces, or creating stories. They gave me vision, courage, and the freedom to live a life built around beauty, creativity, and connection.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes—there have been times when I’ve felt overwhelmed by the challenges of life and the weight of the many ventures I’ve lovingly created. Because I’m a creator at heart, I often take on more than most would think humanly possible, and in those moments, the thought of giving up can creep in.

But I always recenter myself—pausing, taking a breath, and remembering that if God has put it in my heart, then there is a reason. That truth keeps me grounded. It reminds me that the gifts I’ve been given are not by accident, and that I am meant to use them. With that perspective, I find the strength to keep going, turning obstacles into lessons and challenges into opportunities. My faith has always been the compass that guides me forward.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies I see in this industry is the idea that giving credit where credit is due somehow takes away from your own success. There’s a fear that if others are visible for their contribution, it means there will be less opportunity for you. But I’ve found the exact opposite to be true.

I first learned this lesson in my accounting career, where collaboration and recognizing the strengths of others always led to stronger outcomes. When credit was shared, the ventures were not only solid but uniquely successful. I’ve carried that same truth into my work in design.

Collaboration has been one of the greatest roads to success in my journey. No one can do it alone. When we uplift others, share the spotlight, and celebrate each person’s unique role, the work becomes stronger, more beautiful, and more impactful. Synergy is powerful—and I believe God blesses those who not only pursue excellence themselves, but also make space for others to shine.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. My personality doesn’t really understand the meaning of “good enough.” If I can’t give something my all, I can’t bring myself to take it on in the first place. That mindset translates into every venture I pour myself into—whether it’s designing an event, curating a space, or building a new project from the ground up.

Of course, that level of intensity can be exhausting at times—it’s often why I reach moments where I feel like giving up. [laughs] But even then, I know it’s part of who I am. I believe that if God has given me a gift, I am called to honor Him by giving it my best. For me, it’s not about praise or recognition—it’s about being faithful with what He’s entrusted me with, and that fuels me to keep going, even when it’s hard.
