An Inspired Chat with Sharon Weiner of West Adams

Sharon Weiner shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Sharon, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
yes, multiple times. More than once I’ve said something in the heat of the moment only to realize how harsh it sounds and my calmer self would never had said that had I waited a bit

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’d like to briefly introduce myself-I’m an artist whose practice centers on acrylic painting, working on both canvas and yupo paper. My process balances intuition with intention, building layered abstract compositions. I have exhibited my work nationally, and have work that is included in several permanent collections.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What often breaks the bonds between people is the loss of trust, especially when deception is involved. Once honesty is compromised, even small moments of deceit can create distance, doubt, and a sense of betrayal that weakens connection. Trust is fragile and takes time to build but can be shattered in an instant.
Restoring those bonds, however, is possible, though it requires patience and consistency. Rebuilding trust is rarely quick; it’s a long process of honesty, accountability, and showing through actions-not just words, that reliability and care are present again. Only through repeated demonstrations of sincerity can trust slowly be repaired

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most is the fear of being seen in a negative way. For much of my life, I’ve carried the worry that if I spoke up or acted too freely, I might be judged as wrong, inadequate, or out of place. It’s a quiet but powerful fear-the kind that can keep you second guessing yourself or holding back your true voice. At times, it has made me more cautious than I wanted to be, but it has also made me aware of how deeply I want to step beyond that fear and be fully seen.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads are temporary waves of excitement. They usually spread quickly, fueled by novelty or trendiness, but they fade just as fast once people lose interest or move on to the next thing. Fads can influence culture for a moment, but they rarely create lasting change. They are generally short lived.

Foundational shifts, on the other hand, are deep, lasting changes that reshape how people think, behave, or organize their lives. They may not spread as quickly as fads, but once they take hold, they alter the foundation of society, or culture. Foundational shifts endure because they meet real needs, solve problems in meaningful ways, or transform values at a structural level.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I become completely absorbed in painting-when the world around me fades and I lose all sense of time. In those moments, it feels as thought the work is carrying me, rather than the other way around. It doesn’t happen every time I pick up a brush, but when it does, the experience is transformative. The stillness and focus bring a quiet joy that lingers long after I’ve stepped away from the canvas.
